 |
|
The world’s first motor-sport helmet with a built-in unbreakable rear-view mirror system* is being launched by Reevu at Intermot.
The helmets have been designed and created by Reevu in the UK and are being hand-assembled by specialist helmet manufacturers in Italy.
The team behind Reevu has spent ten years developing the helmets, which are designed to save lives on the roads by preventing accidents as well as just protecting the wearer during an accident - Prevention is better than cure!
The innovative technology allows the wearer to see the road behind as well as in front of them by utilising a system of unbreakable mirrors constructed out of ABS, which are fitted inside the helmet mould.
The helmet has been designed to ensure that it meets all international safety standards,
and is of a similar size and weight to conventional helmets. Reevu expects this tri composite helmet to retail at circa £399, putting it in the mid-price bracket when compared with the traditional helmets currently available. Depending on the demand from retailers and distributors, the rear-view motor-sport helmets are expected in the shops by early 2005.
Reevu, which is based in the North East of England, was established in 1999. The company now has an international distribution network across 20 countries. The launch of the motor-sport helmet is the culmination of ten years of research and design and an investment of around £2million. Its long–term aim is to establish the Reevu brand across a wide-range of sports and leisure equipment.
*The Reevu unbreakable mirror is an integral optic system known as MROS (Multiple Reflective Optic System). The optic system itself is made from bullet proof ABS, which is much lighter and safer than glass or metal, yet is virtually unbreakable.
Further details on Reevu can be found on the Reevu website – www.reevu.com ____________________ It is better to arrive 30 seconds late in this world, than 30 years early in the next |

I'd definitely buy one.
It'll be a while before they drop in price though. ____________________ Aprilia RSV Mille R Edwards Replica - Aprilia RS250 - Suzuki GSXR600 Supersport Race Bike |

Quite expensive as far as helmets go Great idea spoilt by pricing it out of many people's budgets.
Never mind, I'll stick to using the two mirrors provided by Mr Kawasaki. ____________________ NSR125RR - ZXR750H1 - ZX9R E1 - GSF600S - GSF600SK3 - VFR400-NC30 - SV1000N - ST1100-R - CBR900RR-R - GSF1200SK5 - GSF600SK1 - VFR1200FA - GSXR1000K2 - ZZR1400 D8F

I contacted Reevu 6 months ago (when I had money ) when the helmets were supposed to be released. Dunno what the delay has been, but now I can't afford one anyway. |

erm fuck that, mirrors work fine as it is, can people really be too lazy to look in them
a crash helmet is for protecting your head, add a whole load of hollow mirror passages and god knows what else, more shit to worry about messing your squash up in a crash
i'll stick with my Arai thanks ____________________ So in other words, he stopped you for being flagrantly in posession of a motorcycle in direct contravention of the Hippies, Darkies and People Whose Face I Don't Like The Look of (Police Powers) Act. 1976 |

Errrr, it would make my eyes go completely doolaly if I had another view in front of me, I would get so confused. I will stick to checking wing mirrors and looking over my shoulder. ____________________ Be careful whose advice you buy, but, be patient with those who supply it. What about when you turn your head and both views start changing. I'll stick to mirrors!
Also if you were wearing one of those you can't use the old "Sorry Officer I didn't see you behind me" routine ____________________ Suzuki RF 600 - The two wheeled Testarossa (Deceased)
