Just got thinking after reading the Crystal Ball features on visordown. Yamaha are delaying their new R6 because their focus has been on apac markets which are growing faster than western markets.

It got me thinking, if there were no new bikes, which ones would you scurry around to collect?

I think i'd want a Bennelli Tornado, a Ducati of some sort, probrably an 848, mainly because I found it really comfortable for a sports bike, I kind of slotted in nicely to it. I'd prob want a KTM 690 SMC just for giggles and a CG125 for fun when it snows.

Weird list of bikes I think, and this post is a general ramble, but I thought an interesting list of bikes might pop out of this post.

I'll now patiently await a picture of knobcat and a 'Cool Post/Story Bro' pic.

I would by 4 TDM900's and then have a decent bike and enough spares for life. Laughing

I would probably go round and buy up all the FJ1200's I could and do pretty much the same as Chris.

Not quite sure why, always liked the look of them. Certainly not the fastest/most reliable thing out there but look like fun. Saying that, I always liked MV F4s until I sat on one... Maybe these would be the same.

Hi

Any number of sporty 2 strokes. And more garage space to store them in.

None of the current bikes make me desperate to buy them (lots I would like but not enough to make me want to spend silly money on them, or chose any one of them over the others)

All the best

Keith

I tried one out, they aren't bad. They have adjustable screen, and footpegs. Narrow so good for skinny people, and a decent height.

Sounds great too.

Not that I would buy one. They are too angular for me, I much prefer the older retro style bikes to these. Thumbs Up

I'd probably opt for a ZRX400, an old z1000, new Triumph Bonneville, FS1E, and a Versys. Just so I had a range of different styles and cc's for each mood. Thumbs Up

2004 Daytona 955i: For weekends away and weekend fun
2001 Ducati monster 916 S4: Brutal little bike, mad fun and huge grin factor
2011 Sprint GT: sensible commuter and general touring mule (without the puke inducing under seat triple exhaust of the ST)
2010 Triumph Thunderbird: Always wanted one despite not being a cruiser fan.
And lastly, some form of off-road type bike. Not very familiar with this side of biking, but would like something that I can have fun on dirt tracks/in fields with.

Not all that interested in brand new bikes, especially not brand new sports bikes but I would probably grab a 2011 ZX10R before they ran out

As a side venture, I'd invest in a few of each of the 2009, 2010 and 2011 Harley Davidsons. Wait a while until everyone else has run out of brand new bikes then take a few cosmetic bits from each bike, swap them around between the years and release them as the 2015, 2016, 2017 models... and so on (much like HD actually do) and make a small fortune from the chromosexuals Thumbs Up .

To be honest the current state of styling on bikes, I don't think I would really care, just stick with Dukes or the MV's other than that most new bikes look fairly gash to be fair.

Based purely on looks as I have ridden very few bikes:

ZX6 B1H: Love the look of them and have decent reviews. Just for fun on weekends and the like.

GSXR 750 K6/7: Again the look and I think 600's are too small for me and thou's are too fast. Would probably be the commuter.

KTM 530 EXC: Would have a set of sm wheels for fun and I could take it off roading too!

VFR 400: Fun in the twisties and cannot get enough of the sound! I'm a bit big for it though so would tart it up and just have it for days when only a couple hours riding is involved and a few stops. Good for bike nights too!

Some big grunty upright twin like the Tuono or SV (maybe a bandit but would like a twin). Would be a second commuter and for two up/weekends away.

And a winter hack. Probably something similar to my current bike. Off road tyres, light and not too much power so it spins. And you don't need speed in the ice. May even get tyres with spikes in but the main roads here are usually free from snow/ice (apart from at night/early morning).

Would love an 848 as its a good engine size, v twin grunt, sounds lush, probably the best looking bike out there but the dry clutch really puts me off. Can you buy a wet clutch for them or some way of eliminating that dreadful rattle?

Maybe a DRZ for commuting too?

Don't slate me for picking these because I have not ridden them. Based purely on looks and reviews I have heard.

The 848 has a wet clutch, it's larger siblings have the dry clutch.

As far as I'm concerned, that's already happened. Did some years ago Wink I consider my Bandit to be the very pinnacle of cutting edge modernity Laughing

Would happily continue as I have for the past 26 years riding mostly 70s and 80s relics.

If I had to have half a dozen specific bikes I'd go for RXS100 (naturally), NTV600, GPz500S, 1200 Bandit, RG500 and 350 Powervalve. Bit of plod, bit of middle ground and a bit of madness. Perfect Cool

To start with:

Cub 90, simple transport to escape zombies and survive on minimal fuel.

CG125, Just another small cheap bike i would have if i could.

CB1 - Little screamer, would like to have 4 of these just for fun ride outs

Something like a XR400 for better off roading than any of the others

A survival bikes of sorts with 3 extra double-hulled fuel tanks, im thinking it should be a NTV650 or perhaps bigger, even a goldwing...

GSXR 750 K4/K5 - Just because i want one
