ive just sent my wheels off for powder coating and im going to order some new tyres to be fitted before i go to the tt next week. my question is do i stick with the same tyres that were on oor not?

my bike is a k7 gsxr 750 and had pirelli corsa 3's fitted and i love the handling and feel really confident with them. i can also get

pirelli corsa 3 £205
avon storm 2 ultra £180
conti road attack £185
dunlop qualifier + roadsmart £170
dunlop qualifier 2 £200
metzler m5 £220
mitchelin pilot power 2ct £200

im swayed towards sticking with what i know as i really didnt like the bridgestones on my old zx6r and they gave me no confidence. now ive found a tyre i like i dont know what to do, im most tempted by the pilot powers or the qualifier 2's

I'd go with the corsa's personally, I'm definitely a Pirelli man I think. (or Metzeler as they are one and the same).

Definitely no the road attacks!! They are awful.

Personally, I'd stick with the Corsa's.

If not, BT023's are f*king awsome!

Agreed. I fitted the BT on the rear of the Gixxer 750 and it was great.

I had Avon storms on my busa. I found them a really good combination of grip and wear. They are classed as sport/touring rather than supersport tyres though so I don't know how they would feel on a out and out sports bike.

sorry, one more thing.

ive decided on the pirellis and when i rang up to order i got him down to 185 quid buthe offered me some of the new rosso's for 195.

my question is for a average road rider will the rosso's be too track focused and too hard to keep the heat in for grip on the road

i know these are pain in the arse questions but £200 is a lot of money at the min so i want to make sure.

cheers

Depends what type of riding you do.

Personally, on the road, Roadsmarts are much better than I can take advantage of. Corsas are wasted on the road, IMO.

well if the corsa's are the rosso's definately will be.

im not one of these who hang off the bike everywhere but id say i ride at a prety decent pace. i was thinking that the rosso's will be worse for grip on the road because they are designed to be used on a track at higher speed to get warm. however im probably wrong

Rosso Corsa's are the dogs, SC2 compound on the edes of the rear, harder in the middle. Don't worry about keeping heat in they are fine. use them on my Gixxer 750 and they are the best tyres I've ever used for feel and grip.

pirelli corsa 3 << hated them
avon storm 2 ultra << Mate has them on his 636, not impressed in the wet
conti road attack << Have a word with yourself sunshine....
dunlop roadsmart << The BEST pair of shoes i have ever put on a bike, you can give it the beans in the wet and dry and they just grip. I have no idea how the manage to last so long.
dunlop qualifier 2 << Not tried, but i hear not got that much longevity
metzler m5 << not tried, but a mate had them on a sv650. HE liked them.
mitchelin pilot power 2ct << A mate in kent has them on his gsxr and swears by them.

BTW Everyone here that i have bullied into getting the roadsmarts has only returned with praise.

Ran Bridgestones and hated them especially in the wet, Love roadsmarts, and had to get a qualifier instead as i ripped a rear tyre up while up in the highlands, both very similar with the smarts being dual compound, heat up super fast too. good in wet weather for sure!

Ducati has pilots on atm not tried in rain an don't seem to warm up quick but the grip is still decent either way.

Stick anything on it. They all work.

Im running a set of old stock Pilot Sports on my TRX (they were cheap). A workmate uses Conti Road Attack 3's on his 900ss( they were also cheap). Both of us are off the edges of the front and back tyres.

I can feel a difference in tyre profiles, but not overall grip. Im riding different bikes everyday for a living.

To just say "bridgestones" is a very, very wide generalisation. You dislike every tyre they produce? Neutral
BT-014?
BT-016?
BT-016Pro?
BT-020?
BT-021?
BT-023?
BT-039?
BT-045?
BT-090?
You see where I'm going with this?

Last bridestone I got on with was the BT-010. I've tried the 014, the 016 and the 020 and 021. The 020 and 021 weren't that special, just a solid touring tyre. The 014 and 016 had grip but not a lot of feel. I could never tell what was going on underneath me.

The BT45's are crossplies and are the best choice for the RD350, but that doesn't necessarily make them a good tyre. The BT090 is for smaller capacity bikes, but I preferred the Dunlop equivalent on my RGV250.

Pirelli Diablo's for the win.

The same set/brand of tyre on 2 different bikes feel completely different.

Ive said it before. Its more down to suspension setup than the type of tyre.

Michelins have soft sidewalls. Bridgestones seem to have stiffer sidewalls etc etc. Overall grip isnt the issue...

to be honest i dont really know. what i do know is i didnt feel verry confident in the bridgestone tyres in the zx6r wich i had the suspension set up on and i do on the gsxr wich i have also had the suspension set up on. just what i thought, and its not like im masively experienced or amazingly quick either. each to their own i suppose
