Hi All,

Just like to introduce myself, I have been reading the bike chat forums for a couple of weeks now and decided to join up. Never drove a motorbike before, but I have been driving a car for around 6 years now. Have signed up for DAS course and starting my CBT on Saturday and my conversion course (to 500cc) on Sunday. I can imagine getting confused with the controls being the other way round to a car, hands and feet wise but really looking forward to it Smile

Ordered some boots from eBay (Nitro boots) for the CBT, but a size 11 turned out to be an american size 11 (UK size 10)! But they fit quite snug with I assume is better then being loose! Just have trouble getting my foot into them first of all as the neck of the boot is really small Confused

It's always best to go into a motorcycle shop and try on the gear, fit and comfort is very important, especially with helmets, the best helmet isn't the most expensive one, it's the one that fits the best.

Agreed! +1! My gaffer asks me if I'm "driving" my bike, drives me mad!

Ah but driving means the operation of a motor vechicle, and you do have a "drivers license" to "drive" a bike Razz

But it's true, riding/rode/ride sounds better and probably comes from "riding a bicycle" (which isn't motor driven) Very Happy

Anyhow I passed my CBT, have moved onto the 500CC and did a four hour session practising for module 1. The instructors said I could pass with flying colours if I remembered my life savers before each manoeuvre, which I forgot every time Shocked

I have my theory on Friday, and I can book my module 1 at least a week after - if I pass. But I might put in another four hour session to run over it again and to get more road experience. I still get an hour to prep before the test anyhow, but I would rather give myself more time to perfect it all for the module 1.

I would strongly advise against arguing with members of the forum who have been here longer. Especially the Clangy one. You will be eaten and shat out and your bones used as tooth picks.

We Ride bikes, cagers Drive cars. Just like you Sail a boat whether its powered by a motor or a sail.

Good luck with the test and welcome to the forum though. Thumbs Up
