I thought they usually had skoda's around there.

Though I guess the reason for unmarked cars is to be undetectable so switching it up a bit is expected!

It's probably a demo car, Jaguar has been trying hard to get XFs on to police fleets.

In order to pull you, don't the officers have to be in uniform? The fireblade should be obvious as the guy will have to be wearing a big yellow jacket.

Wasn't the case, he had on Arlen Ness one piece and plain black lid.

Not saying it wasnt traffic but lots of unmarked cars that bomb up and down the A2/M2 are armed response and dont even bother you even when doing 100+. Good luck if you want to chance it and find out though.

My boss spotted this yesterday morning on the M20 as well, and he's not the biggest car/bike person but still spotted them.

Nosing around and it seems it is one of their new traffic cars.

Plain clothed officers would indicate otherwise.

But I have seen a Dorset unmarked bike with a rider in a hiviz jacket.

I've seen that silver Jag, along with a marked traffic BMW on the hard shoulder having just pulled a Porsche Boxter.

Must be a new tactic; baiting stockbrockers in flash cars.

Last year there were a couple unmarked Hayabusa's in SE Kent for a while with the riders in plain leathers with no Hi-viz on. Not seen them for a while now so they may have gone elsewhere in the county.

I believe they can do you for driving without due care if they're unmarked, but speeding only if they're marked.

Not sure where I've heard this though....

You can be nicked regardless of what they are wearing but I wouldn't stop for anything other that a marked car or bike. Too easy to buy blue lights these days.

Won't you get done for not stopping?

Highly unlikely.

iirc you are only obliged to stop for an officer in uniform. If an unmarked car or bike speeds up behind you and starts flashing it's lights you have no way of telling if it is a Police officer or not. The vehicles marking I would argue constitute in this situation a uniform therefore I wouldn't stop.

It's the argument for all Police vehicles being the same colour and having the same markings, so they are 'uniform'.

I don't think so, I'm sure someone else will be able to answer better though!

Although sure I've seen it on Road Wars and what not.

Edit - Meh messed the quotes up!

Q587  /   What should I do if there is an unmarked police car travelling behind me flashing me to stop?
Answer
The following is advice for anyone who feels vulnerable were she (or he) to stop. In many cases there may be several of you in the vehicle or you are confident you can deal with the situation, in which case this advice may not be for you.
An unmarked police car can stop vehicles, but it must contain a constable who MUST be in uniform in order to carry out the stop.
If a car flashing for you to pull over or stop is unmarked, unless you are 100% certain it is the police, do not stop. Drive steadily to the nearest public place (for example a petrol station where they are open till late, a police station or somewhere there are a lot of people) and then stop. If you are in a relatively deserted area, as a last resort, consider looking for a house that is obviously occupied and pull into the driveway. (You can always apologise to the householder afterwards.)
Try and signal that you have acknowledged the request to stop and indicate the action you are taking (put your flashers on or signal by pointing from the driver's window etc.). Don't drive off at great speed making the police think you are trying to get away.
Keep the doors locked until you are happy it is the police. Have your mobile at hand just in case. You can ask to see a warrant card, which should carry a name and photograph, through the closed window.
Incidentally, if you are suspected of drink/drugs driving none of these actions would invalidate an officer giving you a preliminary screening test as you have only temporarily interrupted your journey and are still driving for the purposes of that law.

So it seems you are right. I would think it applies to bike cops too.

I think its pretty bloody obvious by the time they start flashing their blue lights!
