All rumour and no trousers, but my local Suzuki dealer reckons a GSX250 is on the cards, the GSX125 will make an appearance next year and a totally new 650 will be out later this year?

Maybe he is talking twoddle, maybe he's not?

Latest issue of Bike mag talks about 250's from Suzuki and Yamaha both sporty....Due to problems with parts ect after the earthquakes over there in Japan both bikes are on hold.

Wouldn't be suprised if Suzuki bring in a new 650, the Gladius hasn't really taken off except with women and the GSX650F isn't really setting the world alight. The fact that people still want the SV says alot.

The Gladius was a step backwards from the SV. I can't see why they made it.

It has some styling 'issues', I agree, and the steel frame as opposed to aluminium may be seen as a step back (I think it looks nicer though), but the engine management system, the fuel injection and all that jazz is much improved.

Not a big fan of the Gladius doesnt look or sound good, performance seems fine but man that V-twin sounds too tame to me IMO (maybe I've just been spoilt by the sound of my neighbours TL 1000 though)

Would definitely consider a YZF R250 if yamaha decides to, the 125 is way to underpowered but the styling it inherited from the big uns I likey very much if only had abit more poke.

A 250 GSX-R & YZF-R250 would be WIN.

Indeed. I'm just confused by the bathroom fitting reference. I have a Gladius and I have a bathroom. Even side by side I can't see the similarity.

PS. It was a bitch getting the bike upstairs.

Nah, they'll be shite, because instead of being proper little race reps with rev tastic engines they'll have shitty commuter/thumper based engined and be dressed up as something sporty.

That's where I'm coming from! We need a super CG! Exclamation Surely, they won't be making 4 cylinders, 60 cc each for such an occasion? How much HP could you pull out of such setup, 35, 40? I'm game. Smile

If you want a mental sounding 250 race bike, hunt down an old CBR250RR or FZR250. Probably a bitch to get bits for tho, if anything goes FUBAR.

Big_Ham is right - they'll be single cylinder pieces of shit dressed in lots of plastic. Kind of a "super CG". Somehow they'd be less offensive if they were styled like a proper motorbike instead of a race rep with a seriosu eating disorder.

When the grey import market was flourishing you could fairly easily find a 250-four from each of the big four. CBR, FZR, GSX-R and ZXR. The only one I can see for sale online at the moment is the Kwak.

This new breed of full faired commuter is powered by the Asian market. The 2011 CBR250R is a soft, heavy, economical single. Funny that reviews in India criticized it for being a bit lardy, yet reviews in USA said it was feather light and almost TOO light. Speaks volumes. Laughing

Wait and see if anything more exotic trickles down from Moto3, but don’t hold your breath.

Not too many came in becuase everyone wanted 400's but the CBR is probably the best of the bunch.

Suzuki will be releasing information on their new model on the 15 June, there is a big panel on their website, looks like a Honda Crossrunner, semi adventure, sports tourer type affair, if you can be bothered to wait for the graphics to roll round to the very loose outline....and the background image is a clue....and it's a middleweight bike..

so maybe my local dealer does have his finger 'on the pulse!'.

I like the Gladius, except for the swingarm, reminds me of something you'd see on a cheap 125, apart from that it's a nice bike.

All these new 250's are probably because of the new license thingy and also Moto 3 which is replacing the 125's next year to support Moto GP
