As i'm buying some service bits for my CB500 i've noted some new grips can be had cheaply to replace my worn-smooth-by-the-ages ones (and as i'm getting all the bits delivered it'd make sense to buy it all together to save on postage). Thing is i've just bought new Renthal universal handlebars and will be fitting them and i know that you have to use slim bar ends in them. Does this mean that standard grips won't fit either? (too loose)

Anyone with Renthals able to confirm / deny this, or recommend what i should be buying?

Most handlebars are 7/8". If your lever clamps fitted, so should standard grips. They need narrower bar ends because they are made of thicker alloy tubing so the inside diameter is smaller to achieve a similar strength to steel ones.

Ranthall do also do bars in other diameters, they do fat bars (1") and taper bars, but if they are standard ones they'll be 7/8".

If you get Renthal grips I recommend 'Medium', the hard ones I have are like sandpaper.... made of granite.
