Hi,

just thought id post this up as im angry Evil or Very Mad
Comming down a local A road, i indicate and pull into the central right turn lane. While decelerating in the lane i see a bike bombing towards me at what seems to be Mach3. I hit the anchers as i can see the dick aint going to stop before my bonnet. He swung round me still on the brakes and heads straight towards the car that was behind me. Somehow he come out rubber-side down. Twat

Hey,

As I am understanding this, he basically filtered but going rather quickly and judged that he could go round and get through the gap at that speed without hitting anything/endangering anyone. Fair play to him, I've been known to do the same.

From what I see, you've panicked and slammed on your brakes (which accomplishes what I don't know) whilst he probably had the whole maneuver planned out before you even saw him.

Also, you cannot judge the speed of a motorcycle at the best of times, let alone head-on travelling towards it, it may very well not have been going very fast.

I've done similar, I don't have a death wish, I just know how to plan very far forward and allow for the conditions, if he was going silly speed ~100mph and was completely out of control during the encounter then sure he's a twat, but if he was within the speed limit and was controlled during it then good for him.

Cheers.

Filtering between two oncoming lanes of traffic does not show safe control to me. Either driver could've panicked and wiped him out.

Hey,

From what I see, the motorcycle was filtering as the diagram shows him on the chequered section, he's seen that there is a car in the right-turn lane so he has gone around it on the wrong side of the road (like all overtaking) as he couldn't get in the right lane as if he was filtering there may not have been a gap. That way he's taken the course of action least likely to end up with him hitting something.

Of course that may be wrong as the traffic could have been light but the diagram seems to show the bike as filtering.

If he wasn't filtering then yes he's a douche! It just wasn't very clear.

Cheers!

nearly always a bad idea to do an overtake at a junction like that, doubly so at a staggered cross roads.

Looks exactly like a junction I used to use everyday. On the border between Norfolk and Suffolk.

It is the norfolk suffolk border. A11 between 5ways Mildenhall and Thetford, B1112 Icklingham + Eriswell.
HOW THE FUCK COULD YOU TELL THAT!?

Couple of bits:
I assume it was a courier by the extremely large topbox/side box thing all signwritten.
He/she was doing a damn sign more than 60. If i hadnt braked, i think i would currently had a new bonnet figurine, it was pretty fucking close. He had either not seen it was a right turn lane, or was hoping no one was going to use it. There was no safe gap to get back in on the correct side, and seemed to go round the wrong side as a last resort. He was braking at the time i was, the front dipped fairly sharpish.

No frickin way!
Of all the places that could have happened in the UK.

You see the field at the top left, the tyre tracks of tractors, that is where I used to turn around when I worked there. Epic

I used to have to wait ages to cross over that road in the tractor because of the insane amount of traffic everyday down that road.

May sound nerdy but I recognise the tyre tracks in the field. Everyone turns round there. The dog leg junction aswell, the crops being grown and the road markings.

What a load of bilge. Martay has slammed his anchors on as an instinct reaction to a bike coming straight for the front of his car, the result is at least a reduced impact speed. The bike was riding like a moron, you do not filter there, ever. What he has effectively done is ride down between the middle of two oncoming lanes between two vehicles, it's ridiculous. Yes he avoided a crash but he shouldn't have been there in the first place. Like saying you rode down the wrong side of a motorway and went onto the hard shoulder so well done, you avoided a crash, good riding.

As for the location of the photo, think the OP's profile gives that away.

Haha YES. I worked there over the summer 2010 before a *cough* incident that required my removal.
