Old Indesit fridge freezer has conked-out after 7yrs service.

A new Samsung has arrived. The chap said it has to be left off overnight to let it settle.

The installation guide doesn't mention this.

On. What in a fridge could possibly need to settle for 8 hours?

Always used to be the case to let the gases settle. A bit like leaving brake fluid to settle before using it.

Really? OK, well I turned mine on as soon as I got it, and have had no problems thus far.

You want the liquid freon to settle back into the compressor. Leave it off for a while.

I've always left it for half an hour then plugged it in and used it, never had a problem...

Disclaimer...

Just because this worked for me, it doesn't mean it'll work for you and I take no responsiblity for your actions if you try the afore mentioned dribble...

I Deliver lots of fridges.
They should be ok after three or four hours, except Leibherrs, if they've been laid down for transport the buggers will probably never work properly.

Yoghurts will be fine left out of the fridge...warming the milk up is how the yoghurt making process is started. Exclamation So it certainly won't hurt it for another few hours.

If you are worried, put fridge items into a plastic washing up bowl and fill the sink with cold water and place the bowl inside, should keep them cool, thus fine until tomorrow morning.

Providing you dont open the freezer section you should get a good 8 hours before the thing starts defrosting. Fridge you'll get a couple of hours.

Its always better to let the gas settle on the new one or it wont run correctly. If the food in the freezer defrosts then use it as youu would fresh food or simply cook what you can and it can be re frozen.

This new fridge is bringing out slight OCD.
Top shelf is only for jams...I like jam.
Middle is for my pickled gherkins, onions and salad pickles. I like pickle.

I'm struggling with the other 3 shelves and like all men i don't know how to organise the freezer.

Managed to eat another yoghurt.

[edit] Old fridge is bye bye...Frozen stuff with Linda from next door.(sound old bird). Milk in sink of water....6 yoghurts to go.

I only have a dinky under counter fridge, but I always have the same system for shelf organisation (caused many crossed words when me and my now wife first moved in together and she kept messing up the system)
Arrow Plastic drawer at the bottom - fruit and veg
Arrow Bottom shelf - raw meats (incase they drip, you don't want them dripping on your cooked meats)
Arrow Middle shelf - Cooked meats and spreads
Arrow Top shelf - Diary products

Milk, juice and sauces go in the door

Far as I was aware, it was mainly about the bastard being noisy. If you let it settle it will be quiet, if not, annoying buzzy nightmare.

Plus, food isn't as delicate as the brits like to make out. Keep the fucker closed and it'll be alright overnight. Bunch of girls, the lot of you.

Richard. Ate barely cooked goat brains last night.

None of which need to be in a fridge.
