Anyone have any experience? I've recently been offered a job and this is one of the perks. But they don't give any details.

I know Triumph give 1/3 off, and 50% off parts and accessories.

I'm interested in the amount of discount, and more importanly, if you can pay through PAYE or finance, or if it needs to be a lump sum

Well done on landing the job Very Happy

We got a Megane Sport through his work. Got 5k off, it was done through a local dealer, we traded in a car and got some finance.

5k sounds like a reasonable chunk. Does he directly work for renault?

My jobs with Jaguar Land Rover, so it'll be a few years before I use it, except possibly for a defender, depending on the discount and finance.

Yeah, we got about 25% off the R26 Megane but the latest offers we've had to get money off Lotus Evoras and Elises only run to about 10%, while the offer on Protons (yay!) is about 20-30%. It seems to vary wildly from company to company and model to model.

I always find that the best offers come up just before a new or updated model range is about to be launched.

Uh, it'll entirely depend on the employer. Just do the sums and make sure that if you get taxed on the full value of a notional benefit it still works out better than what you could actually haggle for yourself.

When one of my Uncles worked for Ford, they used to do a yearly sale to employees of the longest "part ex" cars for £1 Laughing

In Nazi Germany, workers at the Volkswagen factories could enter into a scheme would see a proportion of their monthly wages put into a saving account, which, when enough money was in, would pay for their new Volkswagen beetle.

unfortunately for the workers, very few ever received their cars, as the majority of their money had been spent on tanks Thumbs Up

Bro in law works for a Nissan supplier here in Sunderland, he gets 25% of pre vat price (vat is then applied)

can buy 1 car every year i think, can use the discount for immediate family iirc (currently trying to get a Juke for his parents, he bought a Qashqai last year)

got a blistering deal, servicing included, discounted price, favourable finance.

paying for it is your problem, he took a loan from his bank along with a large deposit (sold his golf)

bottom line is at Nissan you just get a chuck off the price, everything else is as if you are a normal punter

on a more serious note, my girlfriend's mum's boyfriend works for VW...im not sure what he does...but its quite an important job, and every 3 months, he is given a brand new car.
after the 3 months, they take back the original one, and he can either get another one of the same cars, or choose a completely different one for the next 3 months Thumbs Up

Cheers for the replys, Insurance quotes should be amusing with ten points.

Bit of a pointless question really as I won't be in a position to use it for a few years. I just wanted to know. (and show off my new job Razz )

Employee discount schemes are pretty good, the Triumph one is good, I know of someone who worked there and she was able to buy a new one each year and sell the previous one for a fairly good profit. There are stipulations on how long you must keep it I think for this reason, not sure how they enforce it though so it's probably an informal rule and obviously a 1 car per year limit.

If you work at Ducati you get a discount on bikes, Fiats and Alfa Romeos and presumably vice versa, I do have the employee pricing sheet somewhere, it's immense, Fiat vans were 40% discounted to employees, you'd make a fortune buying and selling them each year.

When I was interviewed I was given the official line
33% off, Triumph keep the v5 for a year and after that your completely free to sell it. Apparently they brought it in about 7 years ago without the v5 thing just asking people to do it on faith. his words were "this led to a few enterprising individuals"

I walked round Hinckley for a couple hours, theres a good 5 or 6 03/04 plate Triumphs on every street Laughing
