after owning numerous 125cc bikes and a cbr 600 fl i decided i would finally buy the one bike i had wanted since i was 17, a superdream!! (well an rg 125 gamma aswell but that will be the next one!)
found my cb125 30 miles up the road with a month of mot and tax
it had been on ebay for 40 minutes before i phoned the seller and said i wanted it, 2 days later (and £270) i picked it up and rode it back, despite feeling like a hardtail the bike went well, i got it back and left it for 10 minutes before noticing the oil running down the rattly centre stand Evil or Very Mad also petrol was running out of one of the carbs (from where the petrol drain hole is! still trying to work out why this is) so far it was starting to seem more of a supernightmare!
having previously rebuilt a cg i thought this wouldnt be so hard so i stripped the bike down finding numerous 'fixes' all over it, poor bike!
so problems im aware of so far

petrol and oil leak
headlight not working
rear shock seized solid!
tank full of rust Sad
exhausts rotten
paintwork been done all over in what i assume is dulux!

so i decided to start with the frame, stripped and blasted! then i primed and painted it! Thumbs Up
found another shock for cheap on good old ebay Very Happy

so next jobs!
i fitted the loom back to the bike and wired up the battery to sort the electrical problems, not too bad of a job only took 2 days!
the 1 brown wire was an addition to the loom earthing it directly to the frame Shocked ummmm?? turned out just to be a dirty bullet connector on the original earth wire, then the headlight...... well i eventually traced it through to the left hand switchgear, the hi/low switch was not making contact inside, a bit confusing really as the spring inside the switch lever does not push the contact plate out far enough to make a connection, still working on that, Confused
nows the time to clean and renew the parts while they are off the bike!

Did you not give it a proper good go-ing over before you bought it?

Although for £270 I'm not surprised.

But I suppose all those things that are wrong with it will make it a better and more interesting project.

Good luck. Thumbs Up

ok so sorted some brackets for the exhausts ... well nicked them from my gilera coguar Laughing now they fit but the funny angle (lower) prevents the centre stand from fully retracting Evil or Very Mad well i guess i need some originals Sad more money lol

Nice looking Very Happy Shoulda tried to knock him down a bit Wink i picked up the 250 version for £250 Very Happy They're very nippy for what they are though, friend of mine has a blue one Very Happy

Can i ask what the dimensions for the front caliper are? As in, distance between the mounting bolts etc.. the 250 only has a single pot caliper, and was wondering is the smaller ones would fit Laughing

thanks and yea that sounds good at £1 per cc Laughing
as its raining here i couldnt spend too long measuring but the best i measured was 240mm diameter for the disc and the mount holes for the caliper to the fork leg at narrowest points were 55mm to 76 mm at widest points, take these as rough measurements as to be accurate i would have to remove calliper,

if your lucky and everything measures up to the 125 from the 250 (wheel spindle, fork stachion, brake disc diameters)you may just be able to swap the fork bottoms over?
hope this helped Very Happy

....

Float height issue, my superdream has just had this..

Do you have the manual? Whack the float chambers off and see how far down the floats dangle, they need to be a certain height away from the top of the chamber Laughing Mine got to the point where as soon as i stopped, it would spew everywhere. Hasnt happened since i adjusted them. It shouldn't really dangle that far..

Hth Very Happy

Adjusting the float height on a 125 Super Dream would be an interesting trick.. they have fixed floats!

But the valve doesn't always set in the inlet & shut off the flow.

Hmm.. that could be a problem! I have 2 sets of carbs for the 250 superdream, one has the metal and plastic floats, the other has the wierd plastic ones Laughing

Might be some crap from the tank blocking the where the valve sits

pieced a few more bits on the bike, just to give it a go up the road Very Happy
didnt go all too well, i need to set the carbs up or have them done..........hit 65mph tho Smile
one other problem is my tacho counter is not working Sad
the cable is fine and i have a new one to go on when sorted but i know the counter itself is fine however when i removed the cable from the side casing the little shaft in the casing will not move (whilst engine running obviously) im guessing the casing has to come off anyone know what the problem could be?
also any info on how to set up carbs properly?

anyway a couple of pics of it now... chain guard to be painted with a couple other things, also the motad exhaust is temporary until i can find more money to throw at some twin pipes
