Posted: 14:32 - 14 Jun 2011 Post subject: 'The Attitude Test' (the po po) + Exhaust Packing |
 |
|
Okay, so I was out earlier with a mate and a police car was behind us. I was driving slow as my exhaust is quite loud. We went arond this mini roundabout and as we exited he pulled us. I looked back and he was pointing at my mate. So I parked up, stopped the bike and got off. Didnt think it was me he was after so I left my lid on and was gonna sit on the wall.
It was me he wanted after all! So as he is talking to me (with my lid on) he is trying to make me guess why he pulled us. My mate said he heard his indicator relay going mental so he thought it was that. Turns out it was my exhaust is too loud and that I didnt look over my shoulder.
He said that I had pretty much failed the 'attitude' test. He said I wasn't looking over my shoulder and there could have been someone over taking me. I didnt take my helmet off and my exhaust is obnoxiously loud. Well I wasn't being ignorant but why would I look, its a 1 lane road, I was in the right side of the lane with my mate behind me and I could hear where he was. Didn't take my helmet off cos I thought he was after my mate and I can't really help my exhaust. I didn't say it to him and was polite, calling him sir and that, so why the hell did I fail the 'test'? Then he was creaming my mates ass I was like wtf?!
So he took me round to the front of his car and I was like here we go! He opened up the bonnet and was like look at all of this metal, imagine if that hit you... So I just agreed. He proceeded to say he won't give me a ticket and won't even ask my name so just go on my way. Thanks for wasting my time. What a cock!
How the hell did I fail the test, other than not take off my helmet? He said you should get off your bike, stop the engine, take off your helmet and face me. I did everything of that apart from lid because he was pointing at him before... Knobhead
On a side note, my exhaust is loud because when we rebuilt it we connected the fuel and oil hoses round the wrong way. After we realised the mistake tried to get as much oil out of the spark plug hole and then bumped it about 20 times. Eventually it started. Smoke everywhere and it sounded like a gp bike
Its gotten quiter since then but still loud. I get louds of compliments on how nice it sounds and I think it sounds nice too! Doesn't sound like a 50 at all. Not tinny, deep sound and rasps
I think repacking it would sort it as there is probably oil in the packing in there currently, making it damp and rendering it pretty much useless on the silencer front. Now, would I lose the sound if I repacked it? Not so bothered about the loudness but the actual depth and the raspiness. Or shall I just keep it until I get a ticket?
Also where/what would I buy some exhaust wadding?
Thanks for reading

I'd say your attitude does stink.
What's wrong with some manners? Take your lid off, be polite, it might be the difference between getting done and getting let off.
Contrary to popular BCF opinion, the cops aren't there just to make your life miserable. You probably did something questionable (but aren't admitting it or didn't even realise), you have a noisy exhaust, so he thought he'd 'have a word'. Suck it up, jeezus you'd think he'd has his cock up you the amount you're moaning. |

Why are you judging me? You don't know me. I outlined why he said my attitude was shit and everyone else seems to think it was fine, but you.
I was polite, did everything he wanted me to apart from take my lid off as I didnt realise he even wanted to speak to me cos I was gonna sit on the wall as he pointed at my mate. When he started talking to me I apologised about my helmet...
Chris, I was close, but at the end of the day its derestricted with non declared mods and a noisy exhaust so I didnt wanna get done.
Binge, about the fine, thats what I though. As for 50's I agree. I ride with lots of people who are your usual chavvy lot. Me and that particular mate are actually decent guys, we wear all the gear so we are not like that anyway. Thing is though he pulled out of the station and followed us for about 200m so he obviously was looking for something :/ ____________________ Rusty '02 Vito Camper + CBR600F3 |

For riding other than in accordance with your licence; for riding without valid insurance; for failing to notify DVLA of changes to vehicle registration catagory; hence riding a vehicle that does not conform to C&U regs....
Having your moped taken off you and crushed, having the licence you have not yet earned taken off you for a number of years, and an awful lot of money you probably dont have......
Hmmmmmmm......
I can see why you wouldn't want to be properly 'Done'......
So.. up to you really... if you want to carry on riding at risk, be prepared for the tugs you will undoubtedly get for looking like the scoffle law teenager, easy meat 'collar' you ARE... and ride like the angels you prey to you don't get cought, and take your hat orr, stand like you were meeting your maker, and look the penitant quire boy when challenged.....
OF
Get fucking LEGAL.....
Which is when you can look the plod in the eye, be as cocky as you like, and DARE him, from a possition of safety to FIND something to nick you for or to eff-off.....
Your call really.... BUT, sorry, you admit, on open forum, to riding VERY illegally, on a bike you dont have a licence for, hence dont have insurance for, and which is not in accordance with its registration & C&U regs.......
And then fuckling RANT that a coppa has the audacity to do his fucking JOB!
WORSE.... do his job NICELY and let you the fuck off?!?!?!?
Yeah, you HAVE failed thee attitude test, me thinks! ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Over shoulder checks are called lifesavers for a reason.
You'll learn that being in the right lane, knowing your mate is behind you and sticking on the limit means absolutely stuff all in the big wide world
Maybe mr gsi wanted to get past as he was in a hurry to get parked up in mcdonalds for the night and was going to pass you whether you liked it or not, a lifesaver could mean the difference between a bonneting and getting home intact
I've had a full licence 20 plus years, ride serious lots of miles and I still, every maneuver, junction, roundabout, stop and whenever else i feel like it I look around, i know whats going on, i know who is where and I have managed, with a good dose of luck thrown in to stay alive and even to not have had an off for 22 years.
People telling you to look is not having a go, they're trying to keep you alive. ____________________ Nobby the Bastard: How yo tell the difference between the actual japanese and her just screaming because she's had live fish stuck up her arse? I've had a couple of fairly obnoxious bikes now and I've never really had any trouble from the police over them, then again both bikes were big enough to trundle around town on tickover which helps.
Whilst he may well have been arguably a bit harsh with his comments, he does have a point on the lifesavers though, not only do they give you a clearer idea of what's going on around you, it gives more attentive drivers a good clue as to what you are likely to do next ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |
