Anyone got an old car sitting in their garden, something shit like a little 1 litre shed?
Doesnt even have to work ... i just have to get i home and shove in my garden. Im on a company policy with a car, so I will end up losing my current 2yr NCB if I say... dont insure a car in my name for a few years.

Cant really be doing with that, i'll just insure it every year and scrap it when the time comes Laughing

Unlikely but worth a punt

I'll be either taxing (hence the low cc) or SORN and leave the insurance running.

Regardless lol it wont see tarmac.
Its the same as me keeping my GS500 in the garden insured, cat c but i'll keep it ticking over, same as my stolen bikes... lol Laughing

The new law just says that if you have a car that's on the road, it MUST be insured. if you don't have insurance on it, it HAS to be SORN'd.

The prolems could come when insuring the car, as they might want to do checks on it to make sure it's Taxed and MOTd.

Can't see why the insurers would care. They just want the money.

My insurer made a big deal about my car not being MOTd, wanted a copy of the current one and wouldn't insure the car without it being done.

An insurer with morals. I am stunned.

Most insurers won't give a damn about an MOT - and so long as you're not driving it around without, nor should they.

The new law just says that you need to have insurance if your car's taxed, not the other way round.

I don't agree with it, as I have a genuine reason for keeping my vehicles taxed but not insured - they never see the road, and there's already a law about driving without insurance so we don't need another one - but never mind.

You have a year or two before your current NCB expires. You also need to work out if 2 years NCB is really worth insuring a car you're not going to use. Insurance is fairly pricy compared to a couple of years ago, and the discount for 2 years NCB isn't that much.

Yes it is lol

With 0 NCB I cant insure a Supra when I come to insuring it..
With 2 NCB the price is do-able!

Working out holding my licence + more NCB, my current insurance goes down very nicely over the next 2 years...So I would consider it worth it?

I may even use the car if I can get it moving, no big deal if I cant.

Discount on 2yr NCB is quite substantial for myself, 1yr ncb sees my insurance down 2/3rd's onthe bike and the car takes atleast 1/4 off.

So if you had an untaxed, uninsured and unMOTd car you'd be screwed basically.

Can't drive it to MOT without insurance, can't insure it without MOT and can't tax it without both Shocked .
