bike/car without a log book for one reason or another, sent off for a new log book and had a letter sent back by the dvla which is a v523 or something like that which asks bike/car model and serial numbers etc?

if so, why do they want this info, i mean there the company thats supposed to to hold all this info, or are they checking if anything has changed

Could it be to check that you actually have the bike/car.... Or that the details they hold don't match what you have provided.
