Hey all.
My NSR has got a flat and the back is on the wear limits so I'm taking the wheels down to get some new BT-45's put on.
I need to use the bike this evening and we're forcast rain so i'm just asking what to expect?
Is it going to be a clencher of an evening or will it not be that bad?

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Best regards

Do a burnout whilst leaning the bike both sides before you leave.

I had new tyres fitted recently, instantly did a round trip of 140ish miles, and it was wet on the return. I didn't exactly push it, but I didn't exactly go like a slouch. I had no issues or 'moments' at all.

Just had a new front put on, rained really heavy on the way home but I rode calmly and basically didn't notice anything wrong with it; don't flick it into turns too quick or lean it over lots but also don't be scared and rigid on the bike or you will make it worse, if you corner slower than normal, ride smoothly and plan ahead then the bike will not slide.

You will have traction down the centre of the tyres after a very short distance then you can add lean until you gradually scrub in the rest of the tyre. The key to new tyres is to ride smoothly and add lean gradually, even more so when it is wet. This stuff about 100 miles then go for it is nonsense; riding bolt upright for 100 miles then cranking it over will see you on your arse.

I've always hated scrubbing in tyres, but the last set went on the Z1000, and with the turn in on that bike, confidence was not an issue and I had no moments whatsoever.

As DonnyBrago says, gradually build up your lean and you will be fine. Be aware, but dont let it dominate your mindset otherwise every twitch or bump of the road will have your heart pumping and knock your confidence.

Awesome,
looks like it may not be torrential this evening which is good!
I will have to make an effort to lean it then...
My last tire spent most of its life commuting and thus it was a square as a book Neutral
I'm looking forward to getting back onto a somewhat curved wheel again Smile

Cheers for the advice,
If my next post is "look what i did gone do" then you can be assured the advice didnt set in Rolling Eyes

Best regards'
