 |
|
Since my last thread regarding a 'halfords special' mountain bike (which I havent purchased btw) I've been given a Claud Butler Pagan D2 click for a link free from a guy I work with.
The only issue is that it needs new forks as the ones on it are pretty far gone (pitted to hell and locked solid as it hasn't been used in about a year). I've been looking at some new ones, and found some that I like which everywhere I've looked have had decent reviews. Just not sure on the fit and wether the bike would fit the forks.
How do I know what forks are compatible?
The specs of the original forks are here and I was trying to match some forks to the same spec, but to be honest, I have no clue what I'm looking at
Cheers. ____________________ Bike: Currently Bikeless... Gahh |

yep straight swap buddy. as long as the steerer tube lenghth is ok you should be good to go .you will probably need to swap the crown races on the forks over as well(thats the washer type thing that sits on the bottom of the steerer tube..... |

FFFUUUUUUU....
Some bargains on that site!..
I'm not the highest bidder on the bombers on ebay, and that pinkbike site has some dirt jumper 3 forks, and rock shox tora sl 09 forks around £40...
Are those better than the bombers at all? Roughly the same price, and both are affordable, cant find many comparison reviews though... ____________________ Bike: Currently Bikeless... Gahh |

Ordered some new grips and a new front brake cable today from CRC, very good shop. Will be getting bits from there rather than my local bike shop, or local evans cycles as it's quite a bit cheaper than both!

Those are the Tora's I saw, Disc on both front and back of my bike so they should be fine!.. I've sent the guy a text and will see if I can sort out some cash for him.. They're not going to be used on anything other than my commute to work - possible the odd light trail but nothing major. May look to upgrade them again at some point, seen some nice triple crown/clamp forks which have taken my fancy, just cant afford the £250 price tag along with them haha.
Cheers mate, you've been a godsend! I have no clue about mountain bike stuff at all.. Need to get my knowledge up. ____________________ Bike: Currently Bikeless... Gahh |

Don't bother getting the triple clamps buddy.they will mess up the geometry of the frame.eventually stressing it out then snap.better of sticking to singles crowns .... no more than 100mm travel for that frame
pm me if you need any more help buddy |
