Just got my bike mot on friday after being stood up since the end of last year.
I have been out on it a bit and noticed the fan still running for about a minute after i switch off. Even after a short 4 mile run.
The Temp gauge never goes over half way.
It's got plenty of coolant as this was a pre check for getting the bike back on the road.

It's a Kawasaki GPZ400R Jap Import so i was unsure if this was an import thing like the red warning light that scared the crap out of me first time i rode it. Just to tell you you are going over 60 kph.

Just wondering if anyone had any idea what it could be as his is a new one for me.

thanks for any help,

regards,
Elgard

I remember going to Hastings with waffles, her triumph fan stayed on after stopped and removed helmets etc..

The GSXR fan has only come on once, but continues to spin after keys are out, only for a minute or so.

Thanks for the replies.

CaNsA i haven't heard any bubbling but that is because the coolant bottle is in the belly pan, so i will have a listen on my next ride.
Do you think it could be an air-lock ?

It can also be caused by the engine getting a bit hot and the cooling fan kicking in. Is that so far fetched?

A blown head gasket will cause all sorts of things, not just the cooling fan coming on. It may not even trigger the cooling fan at all..

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.
