Hi guys,
Just tried to start my nsr turned the ignition on and the lights came on etc, then when i hit the starter all the lights go off an engine doesn't make a sound. Bump started it and all the electrics work again fine. Can anyone tell me what's causing this, i guess it's the fuse but i'm pretty much a novice when it come to the bikes particularly the electrical side of things.
Cheers Ryan

Could it be the battery? Have you tried charging it overnight or so.

Mine did the same thing. Definitely charge the battery before you replace it and maybe clean it up a little bit as it can get quite dirty under there. Also, make sure you trickle charge it, don't use a fast charge.

Cheers for all the advice, hopefully it will just be the battery the only thing is it got a new one less than a year ago. The bike does get wet occasionally though when i dont cover it, would this have any effect? And probs another dumb question but how would I go about charging the battery?

Use a battery charger. Take off the seat so you can get to it, and clip the two crocodile clips on the battery terminals. Make sure the Red (Positive) clip goes to the Red (+) battery terminal and Black (Negative) clip goes to the Black (-) terminal. Leave it overnight.

Don't use a car charger or you'll fry the battery. Use a bike charger.

The bike getting a bit wet won't have any effect on the battery. Bike batteries aren't that big. They self discharge over time, so if you don't use the bike for a while your battery will be near flat. Starting the engine drains lots of juice. Riding short periods of time doesn't get to recharge it much. Also deeply discharging batteries permanently damages them. It's a good idea to keep them topped up periodically. A multimeter is a good investment for checking batteries and other electrics and can be picked up for less than a tenner.
