Nope. Have MOT'ed a bike without mirrors before. If they're fitted then they have to be not broken and safe, but you don't have to have them. |

That's why your CBT instructor spent so long going on about rear observations and 'lifesavers'. Mirrors are a useful extra and should not be relied on.
Got to admit that I do feel a lot better with at least one mirror to see what is coming up from behind me though |

Mirrors are definately not necessary for MOT... My NRG passed it's last one having broken both L & R mirrors (lowside skid in the rain ). Ironcially, what is required is a rear reflector on your bike and if you have >50cc, a "downlighter" for your registration plate, which i find rather astounding!!! ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

I'm sure any MOT guys will correct me if I'm wrong but when I took my bike for it's test a few months ago I asked this very question, the answer I was given was if they are fitted as standard on the bike then they have to be present and working for the MOT. If they're not a standard fitting then they don't. So really the answer could be both yes and no |
