First "Big" bike!

So, today I steered away from weird 50's and dodgy chink 125's and got myself a 400 =D

I gotta say, she's a nippy lil girl for a 400, tops out around 120. Only paid 460 for her with 12 months mot and 4 months tax.

I gotta admist, 50's are still my favourites... but I do like the extra power... A LOT. hehe

good choice mate, runs a detuned version of my CBR's lump I recall that it's a fairly simple to swap the lowers for ones from the CBR along with the front wheel to get twin front discs

Looks a very clean wee bike for the price. I think you got yourself a bargain there.

It's been crashed, bent brake lever, mini flashers and after-market bar-end weights are a giveaway.

That said, they crash well and for that sort of money, you kind of expect it. Here's a picture of our club CB1 being "repaired" after having just been thrown into a ditch at 70mph. To my knowledge, that was the sum total of the repairs it needed.

It'll ride even better when you get rid of that square rear tyre. I haven't seen one so square in a LONG time!

Anyway, 400's are great, aren't they? Light, flickable and with enough power to have fun, but not enough to get you seriously in trouble with Plod. Great bikes.

Great bike, I'm tempted to hang onto mine depsite buying another bike as they're not that easy to find. They have just the right amount of power to be fun on the road without risking your licence.

Wouldn't worry about getting a twin disc setup; the single disc is fine for the power and weight of the bike and can have the back wheel in the air...no need for more power than that.

Excellent choice, I've got two and wouldn't ever sell them. The 120 top is a bit high, probably because the later, bigger sprocket has been fitted but they're very capable and I can keep up with most big bikes on the twisty bits. I can arrange a swap with a German CB-1 er for a MPH speedo, they are after KMH ones and I swapped both mine that way. The frame is a bit vulnerable in an off, I've fitted ptotecters on the rear bolt for the front infills. Some parts are now NLA so look after stuff - don't lose the rear tank rubbers for eg. One thing to keep an eye on is where the lugs are welded to the frame for the top engine mounts. These can split and when they do, the crack is muniscule. Also worth checking if the Reg/Rec has been upgraded, the original "finless one was pants, (same with a lot of Hondas from that time), and failure can lead to the battery exploding. If you need any help or parts, give us a shout.

BTW, looks like someones fitted a Fireblade shock - much better than the original one

BT45s meet all your requirements perfectly although Pirelli diablos are cheaper (if you go to a 150 rear) and are meant to be good.
