Right I have a problem with my bike. I think its getting starved from fuel because I can leave it for 3 secs then go off, then do about 5-10mph for a sec and bogs down. If i leave it for another 3 secs it does the same.

Does anybody know whats going on? What do you think could be causing this? Someone said to me that water could be in the fuel. It was raining, but the garages have roofs overhead, unless some rain flicked off from my jacket whilst I was filling up?

i doubt a few rain drops off your jacket would affect it.

take your carb off and clean the jets. this is more than likely your problem if it keeps cutting out and not getting enough fuel.

or check your fuel line make sure it isnt trapped anywere

I only recently cleaned the carb, about a month ago. So it shouldn't be that! :/ But I will check anyway!

Not sure about the fuel line, but I will check that too.

Just got advise from another mate, he thinks that there may be something wrong with the fuel filter... because it keeps on recurring, so the fuel is slowly getting into the carb and getting used quickly. I was thinking that the fuel could be contaminated too, but I'm not sure. I did put a reasonable amount of redex (Petrl Injection) in the petrol tank, as i usually do every fuel up. Doesn't affect it. :/

redex fuel injector is pretty good i use it often..
yeh could be the fuel filter but maybe worth giving your jets a clean again. what bike is it?

you could try a new spark plug aswell. i had the same kind of problem on my rs125. the spark wasnt burning the fuel quick enough and it was losing power and cutting out. put a new spark plug in it and it ran nice

I will do the following Tomorrow as its raining:
1) Take the carburetta apart and clean the jets and the bowl.
2) Clean the air filter, and see for any leakage inside.
3) Drain the fuel tank.
4) Check the fuel filter, to see whether its blocked?
5) Check the fuel tap because its automatic, so it could be faulty?
6) Check the fuel line and the vaccum line, and clean if neccessary.

It isn't the spark plug as I have changed it and it does the same :/ Also checked that the HT coil is correctly seated.

Hmm could be a possibility. If the float in teh bowl is not seated correctly then it could prevent it from letting fuel in the bowl... but really why would this happen shortly after i fueled up? :S

Have you filled up since? i've not had it happen to me and have only heard stories but could be dodgy fuel? and sometimes its just a process of elimination and can't hurt to check the float height/operation.

Just before these problems started occuring... I filled up. 2 minute journey back to my house after i filled up to get my waterproofs was running perfectly fine. Then as i was setting off again... it was fine! Then 3 minutes of riding it started to bog down...

It could be contaminated fuel... but im not sure? :S

I cannot check anything now, for two reasons. Its dark, and also because its raining Sad

Before you enthusiastically tear the bike to bits just drain the carb float bowl in case water has worked its way in.
