...for my first motorway experience. The amount of spray on the M18/A1 run to work was unbelievable. I was undecided until I got to the roundabout, but thought fuck it, I'm doing the motorway. Could see fuck all for must of the way, but after a bit of a hesitant start, got up to speed and did a bit of lane changing, managed a steady 80mph once I'd got ahead of traffic (more through blindness than intent!), but the wind blast was quite horrific! So one more days experience and a little bit more pleased with myself. Done a bit of filetering too, passed a mile long queue of traffic yesterday, right to the front at the lights. Need to work on my racing starts though, that Merc yesterday wanted to play!

One thing that did play on my mind this morning, was the huge amount of diesel on the roads out of Doncaster. White Rose Way/Gliwice Way past the Lakeside, onto the motorway slip road was awash with the stuff, all dead rainbows everywhere. Made me very very careful round the Lakeside roundabout, but it was close to the nearside towards the motorway. Is this from an overfilled bus?

What you need is a fairing Wink

Glad you're enjoying the ride - you'll soon get used to the racing starts (because nothing is more embarrassing than filtering to the front and then stalling on takeoff!).

It's a 70 limit, but if you try doing 70 you'll be too fast for the left hand lane, but go int he middle lane and you'll piss everybody off Laughing These days i usually just sit in the right hand lane a safe distance back then pull to the left when it's clear in front.

My first motorway expirence was impossible. It was on a very busy but unlight section of the M6 where i was stuck in gridlock traffic for an hour in the car. Once the traffic got moving i couldn't see a thing in front (i had a headlight out but didn't know it at the time) But looking behind me all i saw was a thousand headlights, so i stayed behind the lorries till the lighting returned Laughing

Welcome to the world of high powered bikes. The wind blast is normal when you ride a naked bike. You have a little screen, that should be enough to deflect the worst of the wind over your head if you duck down a bit. You'll also find a nice little pillow of air if you lean over a little that will help with the vision. On mine if I hunch over a good deal the visor clears itself pretty well.

You'll get used to how to ride in high speeds the more you use the bike. Riding in the wet is never as much fun as riding in the sun though.

Embarassed Don't, I did that on my way home at lunchtime. Pulled up at some lights behind a Beetle, and a huge sportsbike pulled up behind me. Green light. Clutch out too fast, not enough gas. Clunk. Feck. I was irritated with myself. The sportsbike disappeared past me before the next lights. Oh dear. If it was anyone on here, many apologies...

Do you know how fast you were going back there sir?

https://www.worldquest.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Thou-Shalt-Not-Judge1.jpg

You were riding a motorcycle at lethal speed and to save you from yourself i order it crushed.

Funny how doing 60 on a twisty single lane country road is apparently 'safe' but doing 71 on an empty 3 lane motorway is reckless Laughing
