Was looking at some last minute tickets for the F1, I dont want to be stuck in the horrific traffic thats normally present over the race weekend.

acording to the silverstone parking is free for bikes saving £25 on a car.

anybody tell me how easy it is to filter through the race day traffic and hows the parking? is it on grass or hard surface.

any info greatful cheers

I've never taken a bike but I've been in the car a few times. I know there are large tarmac carparks but I'm not dure of their availability on race days - cars normally get filtered around to the grass car parks. However, I've seen many bikes parked near the various circuit gates and that is a hard-packed shale surface in most places.

Hope that helps a little.

Edited to add: Might be worth sticking a 6" square bit of plywood under your seat for the sidestand if the worst happens and they stick you on the grass.

Thats what i was thinking, Ive never been but I have heard about the jams. thought filtering through on a bike would be much better and the parking is free!

I once went to oulton on my dads BMW. Parking was on the grass so i put it on the center stand. It sunk in so far i had to get a couple of guys to push me forwards off it whilst i tried to ride away Laughing

Silverstone is a big place with shit loads of tarmac around it so parking will not be an issue. Getting stuck in gridlock traffic and having to spend 2 hours working your clutch hand is far more likely.

Oh yeah, the jams are mental. You can avoid the worst by going through Bucks via Whittlebury or Stowe, rather than the more traditional approach on the A43 but the only way you stand a chance of getting in the tarmac carparks is by going the A43 way.
