Riding to Montenegro what haven't i thought of?

Decided today that I'm going to ride to the inlaws in Montenegro on Monday as the wife and child will be flying there on tuesday. I will be doing this on a J1 zx6r and the plan is to go through Belgium Germany Austria Switzerland Slovenia and Croatia. Never ridden too much more than 500 miles in a day before but I'm hoping to do 750 a day to make it a two day trip, is this unrealistic?
Does anyone know of any strange regulations that apply to countries on my route or any pitfalls I should be aware of?
I'm not booking anywhere to stay on the way as I don't want to tie myself down to certain distances if I don't feel comfortable/awake enough to do them.
Having not really planned this out or thought it through too much what are the basics I need to know and what are the essentials I need to carry to make this trip happen?

In two days? That is a painful trip.

In three days it's uncomfortable.

You won't have time to sleep, so i suggest up sleeping rough for a few hours wherever you can get shelter.

If you up it to three days, then i would say look for Formule 1 style cheap hotels, as unpacking and packing your camping gear is going to slow down your progress each day.

I did salisbury to innsbruck in 24 hrs, included a stop for a bit of kip.
That was getting on for 900 miles and wasn't a major hassle.

If you don't do a lot of miles usually it could cause problems.

If it was me i'd go a couple of days earlier though and take the time to plod along and enjoy the sights, roads and stop off in a few places along the way.

I don't have the chance to leave earlier unfortunately but if it is necessary I will take three days, I have changed the oil serviced the brakes with new pads and checked everything over. I don't generally sleep more than 4 hours a day so I'm not worried about getting too tired, it's more about how uncomfortable I get that I'm worrying about. Nearly had my thundercat roadworthy in time but it's not quite ready!

3 days is ok-ish

Why are you riding there? It's obviously not to enjoy the roads along the way as you'll be on motorways all the way.

As i imagine the tank range isn't that great take 10 mins every time you stop to walk around. your body will thank you.

I always have a walk round for 10 mins when on a fuel stop, it really does help your body and mind.
Earplugs will help too, stop you going deaf over the distance. through germany you can make up ground on good roads with good drivers and sensible limits. When unrestricted get moving but not dangerously and when a limit is set make sure you don't go over it.

Overtaking a german police car at 120mph is damn hard to do, you just convince yourself you're about to lose your licence but they don't even look at you.
Do 10mph over the set limits though and they'll bounce up and down on you quite hard.

I'm riding there because when i ride I stop thinking about everything else, and the thought of two days without phonecalls and people annoying me is wonderfull. I also like the challenge of taking it on and once through Germany I will get to ride through some awesome scenery. It might be a stupid idea but I once did 450 miles on a NSR 125 and didn't regret that! In an ideal world I would spend longer on the journey but it's not an ideal world and once I get there I will have plenty of rest. As above my tank range is not huge so I will be stopping regularly for fuel food photos and fags which will help break up the journey.

Right, been put back a day so I'm leaving tomorrow morning, gives me time today to wire in a charging socket, get travel insurance and breakdown cover, any breakdown cover recommendations?
On the plus side it looks like the way home will be at a more leisurely pace with my misses going pillion, having never been on the back of the 6r for more than 2 hours before, I'm sure this is going to be an eye opener for her!

Well how did you get on or are you still in Montenegro I was wonder having just seen this post did your insurance cover you for Montenegro as mine did not in 2005

But the police sold you a green card on the boarder which to them was enough for me to ride there? Once at my destination I did not use the bike much
