I mean...is it frowned upon all through the pregnancy..or before/after certain times ??

Obviously the big one here is that you are then responsible for two lives (3 with a pillion). I would assume that until physical movement is inhibited, risks would be limited to the potential for damage in the event of an accident. To quote a friend 'Im not disabled, I'm bloody pregnant'. (repeated at least 5000 times a day!)

I rode til I was about 4 months pregnant, when I found my leathers were uncomfortable, and I felt too worried about hurting the baby if I had an accident.
It's up to the individual, I guess, but it would be worth checking with your insurance company to check you're covered throughout the pregnancy.

I would say until you cant fit into your leather anymore!
I wouldnt have a problem riding when pregnant, i know of a girl who rode a harley till she was 6months gone and then she just couldnt fit into any protective clothing so she gave up.
Guess its down to the person.

Hi

Clothing might be the hardest problem, along with the shape of most modern bikes.

Safety wise it has risks to both, but given the position of a car seat belt I would suspect that the overall risk to the foetus is little different in an accident on a bike or in a car.

Again, it's a personal acceptable risk choice. Some may be comfortable with the idea of riding whilst pregnant, others are not. There was that terrible story in the news last year I believe, about the woman who crashed and died whilst pregnant. Terrible tragedy, and it started this discussion on various other boards at the time. Of course, something like this happening gets the safety Nazis in a panic, but that's the first time I have ever heard of that happening on a bike. However, I have heard of lots of similar cases where the woman was driving a car instead...

I sold my NSR shortly after I found out I was pregnant but now she's 1 I decided to do my test and buy a 400 it was a cause of if I didn't do it now I never would.

Not that I get much of a chance to go anywhere as I feel really cheeky asking people to look after her whilst I go and play Smile

I was lucky enough to become a dad back in May, and up until about January/February my other half would still come for rideouts with me - the main thing that stopped her was the fact she could barely fit on the back anymore and her finding clothing to cover her ever-growing belly became difficult so it would start to get chilly.

Once he was born she was pillion again within 2 weeks once she was near her normal strength but she had no stitches so that helped.

And this is my version of a babyseat - provided by Craig (Craig_ on here) of CMP Racing. He's since provided me with a carbon fibre one to cut weight and it comes with built in bottle holder Laughing

I'd say the hazard of riding a bike while pregnant is more to do with the possibility of straining yourself.

Moving the bike around when it's stationary takes quite a lot of strength. If you're carrying a child, it could cause a miscarriage.

I do think it's up to the individual, but there is the 2 life thing to think about. As for cars you can get a belt thing that holds the lap belt away from bump.

I guess it would be a confidence thing
