if i were to move the carb further from the engine and make the pipe between the carb and engine obviously longer, what affect would this have.

as far as im aware, the theory is one of two things.

either:
-the carb should be as close to the engine as possible for best performance, or
-the distance between the carb and the engine is a specified amount worked out at the design stage and shouldnt be moved around by someone like me Laughing

I would imagine if a carb was far from the engine, it would be a cunt to start, and would respond with a bit of a delayed reaction.

i thought maybe also a loss of velocity in the air/fuel charge. im sure i read somewhere that its a distance based on the carb/engine/power design but cant really remember.

How much longer are you looking to make this inlet?

The reason I ask, is because you can extend, and shorten the inlet passage.

When I put the TZR engine in my pit bike, it meant making a custom inlet, which took the space between the carb and engine from about 1.5", up to about 5".

It still started, and ran perfectly.

What is the actual reason you want to move the carb?
