Well, after going to get some oil from the local halfords for the gp100 rebuild, I get back to the bike to find that I had a flat!

I went back in the store to ask if they had an air compressor to see what was going on.

One of the assistants swiftly came out with an air compressor. After inflating the tyre there was a significant hissing form somewhere.

He goes back in and grabs some Holts Tyre Weld, filled up the tyre inflated to the correct PSI and I then rode home.

The stuff is bloody messy!

When I got back it looked as if someone had sex wee'd all underneath, haha!

The question is, how long will this last in the tyre?

The tyre has loads of tread left and I wouldn't really want to fork out for a new one if this stuff is going to last until the tyre needs renewing.

The puncture itself is the size of a medium sized nail. In fact I can't even locate it any more, as that sealant has sealed it up really well!

Cheers guys, Wink Thumbs Up

I wouldn't trust it. That sealant stuff really is meant for getting you home/to the bike shop. Especially if you're planning to go anywhere further than down the road i wouldn't risk it.

If its a medium sized nail hole, you can just get it plugged for about 30 quid.

Tesco AND Asda are selling it cheap just now.

I think they are competing from prices on this same product. Thumbs Up

Used it on my rear tyre 7000 miles and 2 years ago, still OK, no problems!

Holy crap!

We are talking about the same stuff - Holts Tyre Weld?

You're really making me think twice about getting my tyre plugged or replaced now, lol.

they wont plug your tyre if you've got tyre weld in it. It makes a real mess of the inside of the tyre.

Id personally get it replaced when you can, they're only meant to be a temp solution as someone else just said. Thumbs Up

It lasted about 3 hours for me, the tyre went down again so i eventually did have to ride home on the flat.

I decided in the end to get it replaced as the safety side of my brain kicked in.

I wish it hadn't though, the new tyre cost me £103!

I had the most un-confident ride ever on the way to get it reaplaced. I must have stopped at least 5 times to check it was still inflated.

Still, better than not realising my tyre is going flat down the road and paying the price of having a few broken limbs or even death!

You took a tubed tyre and put tyre weld in it?

I think that deserves this:

I assumed he meant the GP100... in that case I wouldn't trust tyre weld in a tubeless tyre either.
