Hey there fellow bikers

I had my bike stolen in January. It was a 125 and was my only form of transport to work at the time. I had been a biker for years and given up but the bug got to me so i bought this cheap off a mate, did some work to it got it road legal and all was good.

Anyway cut a story short, a friend of mine phoned me to say it was advertised on a website and the guy wanted to swap it for a road legal bike, he advertised it as off road only.

I send the guy some emails pretending to be interested in buying it,. he sent me a few back and at first said he would consider selling it but then changed his mind and said he wanted to swap it only and so i thought i had lost out on the chance to get his address.

Then i took my chance and clicked on his profile and send an email to another member that he has recently dealt with, luckily for me they understood my side of the story and gave me the address for the seller.., they had bought some bits off him a few weeks previously.

The guy is about 7 miles away from me.. and i have his full address.

Id love to get the bike back but have fuck all confidence in letting the police deal with the situation.

Anyone on here hate bike theafs enough to help me out go pay this man a visit and get my bike back?? Obviously i can prove to anyone that the bike was mine... Although i no longer have paper work i can describe the work that i did to it that is visbile on the pictures and i can also provide details of the previous owner i bought it off (my mate) who can verify it my bike.

Its in Chesterfield Derbyshire by the way.

Obviuosly wouldnt want any trouble.. Just to knock on his door and get the bloody thing back!

Don't be ridiculous mate, call the police now. You might get your bike back in a couple of hours. I am sure coppers have nothing to do at the moment.

After getting your bike back you might kill his dog. Fair square.

Im just soo mad at the guy i want to actually get the damn thing back and at the same time put the fear of god into the little bastard!!

Im also pretty sure that the guy selling it is the guy who pinched it.. In one email he told me he 'acquired' the bike just over 6 months ago..

He either stole it or bought it very soon after it was stolen and he must know its pinched,.

He also claims to want to swap it for a road legal bike... one email he sent me said he wants a road legal bike becuase hes starting work soon so wants something to get to work on!!!!!
I fucking wanted something to get to work on when it was stolen!! But i didnt go out and steal another bike to help me get what i wanted!!

Makes me soooo fucking mad.. i was going to work on it 6 days a week as a nurse to feed my family and some wanker decided it would look good on there garden and now they decide its fit to trade it so they can get to work!!!!!!

I wished the guy that had nicked it had crashed it and been admitted to hospital that night while i was working!

Sorry to rant fokes.

I know it makes sense to call the police lads...

Also if i did that i would never see the bike again.

The insurance company paid me out so technically they own it now

However if i recovered it myself then i would be able to keep hold of it.. yes i know i wouldnt actually legally own it but i could practice tinkering with it or use it as a field bike on some land i use.

Guess i will go sleep on it and see how i feel in the morning about it

Image this:
You turn up with a bunch of guys and demand the bike back. He denies having a bike let alone yours.
You now have 2 choices: Leave knowing he will ditch the bike or wheel it round a mates house. or smack him in the face and push your way past him invading his home, fight off whoever tries to stop you to get out back and find the bike locked up cause he knows full well how easy it is to steal a bike.

Or you can tell the police who are probably despirate to look like they're doing some work to justify their budgets and avoid being a victim of cuts. They will go round and either do him for theft or recieving stolen property. Even if you don't get the bike back, even if he didn't steal it the appearance of police on his doorstep might be enough to save someone elses bike getting stolen in the future.

Not calling the police on this one is a bit dumb. You're going to end up with this guy selling the bike on before they've had a chance to do something about it. But you say you don't have any documents? You're gonna need some kind of proof of ownership, I'm assuming you're the V5 registered Keeper?

Either call the police or deal with the scrote yourself. Doing nothing just leaves the cunt free to steal someone else bike.

Correct, so speak to the Police, get them to recover it and then speak to the insurance company and ask them how much they'd want for it.

Yes, you would be able to keep hold of it in the same way that the current theiving tw@t can keep hold of it. It's not your property anymore. What if you get caught riding the bike around on the field, the Police find that it's a stolen bike which YOU reported stolen (!), the insurers think that you made up the theft, you get charged with fraud and you lose everything including having to payback the claims payout.... or just call the Police. I know you're angry right now, and I would be too. But think it through. It's probably half stripped, and either hotwired or with a replacement barrel. How do you plan to ride it away?

For your own sake, either get down to the cop shop and do it legally, or do it without witnesses and an evidence trail.

Jeez Dave, think of this:

What you'll be doing is recovering your stolen bike by stealing it yet again...?

Do you seriously want that hassle. Call the F*cking police, and let them sort out the little scrote.

Actually, since it belongs to the insurers, maybe they'd want to sort him out? Give them a try first.

It means you've just explained on an internet forum that you're planning to do something immensely stupid and it is now expected that many members of the forum will attempt to point out the error of your ways.

Call the POLICE man, Jeez, they aren't great but they'll love this as it'll be an easy collar for them. Its not worth you 'stealing back' your bike as you could get nicked for it yourself.

get a couple of pals and go the fuck round there now and bang on that front door like theres no tomorrow when someone comes to the door you tell them you want your bike and dont give them any other option if the bike is not there you will be back in an hour.

when you come back and if its there you twat the fecker so hard hel not think twice about touching YOUR bike again if its not there then you gather all the evidance you have and then go to the police but i know if i new where it was or could be i would be on the bcf .

good look mate and were you based. ??

Or, he could call the police. This kind of thing is asking for escalation. If this scally did nick the OP's bike then he knows where he lives doesn't he? And if he didn't, if he just received the bike, then he doesn't deserve a punch in the face necessarily does he?

Call the police or it could get very messy.

How is this up for debate, call the police, wait around the corner until they arrive and be there to ID it. Bring photos of the bike and get your crime reference number to ID the case when you phone the plod.

Going round to get into a fight/attacked by a pitbull before the bike is promptly discarded is asking for trouble.
