Just watched forrest gump and i'm bored, so i'm gonna bore you all with my biking story so far Laughing

Righto, first bike was a CG125. bought it after saving up my hard earned cash from my part time job, without even thinking about my license or gear or anything. i just wanted a bike.

Found a 1999 CG125 on ebay for £500, so i haggled with the guy and got it down t £400, and £40 to deliver it to my door. perfect!

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01279.jpg
Got it like that and i was delighted with my purchase. £400 for a taxed and MOTd bike, and all i needed was my CBT.

SO, as i'm sure many of you know, i did my CBT in may, and that bike was crashed.... Many times.

I broke my wrist on one, but kept pushing on and gaining experience, seeing how much the bike could handle.

Modded it a bit too, stuck a round headlight on

https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC01297.jpg?t=1256149671

And also stuck some competition bars on it!
https://i624.photobucket.com/albums/tt325/duncdmc/DSC00038.jpg?t=1268505361

Now i loved that bike, and it was perfect for getting me to college and back. but alas, it was not meant to be.

Came out to go to college one morning and my bike was gone. cue frantic searching an calling of the police, but never heard a thing about it again.

So i stuck some ads up, managed to make another £400 and bought a 1993 CG125 off a member on here.

https://a1.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc3/14995_1346016424213_1645368025_782077_5079080_n.jpg

Taxed, MOTd, did me okay for the month that i had it.

Granted it was nowhere near as nice as my first CG, but it did the job. Never crashed this one till that fateful night on 22/11/2009.

I don't remember much of the crash, i just remember seeing the car on my peripheral vision, and then being on the ground in extreme pain.

turned out i'd dislocated my right elbow, i couldn't move my right leg at the hip, knee or ankle.... broke a couple ribs, my wrist, all that jazz.

But that wasn't gonna stop me.

Got back to work after 5 weeks off, and started making money again.

When i had made a fair whack, i started buying bits and pieces to rebuild the bike. i got a frame from a member on here for free, as i'd given him a bike and he was paying me back through some parts i needed.

So i started rebuilding the CG, with what i had. came across a lot of problems trying to shoehorn '93 bits into a '99 frame, but ended up with this.

https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/14995_1346017624243_1645368025_782102_2996801_n.jpg

Still needed a lot of work, and unfortunately i ran out of funds and had to let it go. sold it to a member on here for £150.

so after this is was bikeless and boring, till july when i got my hands on a tidy GPZ500s for £300. needed the carbs cleaned, and needed a general tidy up, but was a steal for the money.

Got it like this
https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/34063_1406569458001_1645368025_920308_418723_n.jpg

So because i had plenty of time till i went back to college, and i had a load of time off work, with money still coming in, i decided to do a proper clean up and got it running properly. stripped the carbs, cleaned out the cylinders and did a big service on it.

Ended up like this.
https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/46953_1478185488357_1645368025_1100151_8314854_n.jpg

Got a pretty decent following on that bike's thread and i thought i'd done a good job, for my first time.

So I never had my licence, but i had this bike and i had a car too, a 1.4L '98 VW polo. it was an easy choice really. bye bye car, hello bike test.

did my bike test in kirkaldy with Pro Scot (great guys, highly recommend them!). Passed first time, with 0 faults. perfect!

I got the GPZ on the road a couple days after i'd passed. Loved every minute on it. felt like a superbike compared to the CG125.

But then again, good thing's aren't meant to last, are they.

Someone stole it when it was sitting outside my girlfriend's house. Blew the fuse on the starter solenoid and just dumped it, the day before my birthday. she found it the next day and i got it back. great birthday present!

Was in a bit of a state. fair enough, it was repairable, but i didn't feel like that. i was feeling steetfighter.

So i set to work on it, ripped the fairing off, stuck a load of bits on it and was generally happy with it. ended up like this.

https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/179226_1686940267096_1645368025_1491644_4209125_n.jpg
https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/180718_1702700661096_1645368025_1522718_2134490_n.jpg
https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/183469_1726775422950_1645368025_1562387_2837274_n.jpg

So i had the GPZ 'fighter for a couple months then got a wee bit bored with the power on it. i wanted something bigger, something faster, a bit more sporty and attractive. That's when i found the TT600.

did a part exchange on the TT600 with the GPZ.

*ooooohhhhhh the TT600!*

Yeah, that one.

https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/269622_2004801293423_1645368025_1859748_3442593_n.jpg

Not much i can say about that bike that's not already been said.
Yeah, it handled brilliantly, the brakes were fantastic. It could really shift when you opened it up, and i loved how it looked.

But all those good points? only really valid when the bike fucking worked.

I did sort most of the problems by the time i got rid of it, about £100 worth of bits were needed, and the new owner, yeah, you guessed it, off this forum, has got it sorted Thumbs Up

Anyway. got rid of the TT in favour of something cheaper to run.

After being made redundant and recieving 6 days pay for 6 weeks work, i did struggle a bit to run the TT. the GSX600F seemed perfect for what i needed it for.

Bought it on the wednesday.

https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/270382_2007887890586_1645368025_1863213_3899302_n.jpg

the bike was capable, but nothing special. did what you asked of it and not much more. it did sound good though!

So i took it to my girlfriend's house on the sunday, and this happened.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SjA2MejOlQ

So i had it 5 days before it was nicked.

Surely i've just had bad luck with bikes?

So, 2 days later, i managed to salvage £800 for a new bike, and i've bought a 1996 CBR600f. got it last night and brought it home. fantastic bike. Looks good, apart from the paint, 7k miles, runs well, sounds amazing with the stubby can, goes like shit from a shovel and is just perfect for what i need.

https://sphotos-g.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/260464_2020249199611_1645368025_1880349_4823735_n.jpg

Making a fair bit of WONGA at my new job so it's easier to run a bike like this now, and this will be good to commute on too, so i can't complain!

So that's it so far. new bike really is great. best bike i've owned so far in my opinion.

More pics to follow, that pic really doesn't show how good it is.

Cheers

Dunc

All that bad luck has got to come to an end sometime, seems like you have pulled through the worst of it.

Some nice bikes there, the triumph and the xf is shockingly not bad .

If you end up down the sport/ touring side this below glides down the road with an "OMG" effect. Wink

Another idea is another key.

Like this

Plumb this into the live to the ignition so you need two keys to start. Dont know if this type locks the key inplace but if hiden the scum would not get the bike started smashing your ignition.

I was just considering a secondary killswitch under the fairing, or under the clocks or somewhere else out of sight, wired straight into the ignition barrel. so even if they did try to hotwire it, it'd not be getting any power.

On my old mz I used to put it in first and take the gear lever off if I had to leave it for any length of time. Chavs love two strokes X-)

On one of my old gixxers I frigged with the mounts for the ignitor box so that it could be removed easily.

TL:DR

The shorter version for the rest of us

Bought bike. Passed test. Crashed bike. Bought bigger bike, Crashed bigger bike. Streetfightered crashed bigger bike. Streetfightered crashed bigger bike got stolen. Got bike back. Bought Triumph. Broke Triumph. Stripped triumph. Gave away for a teapot. Teapot stolen. Now I reminice!

The end.

I sit at a desk and do validations on a computer, making sure there's no problems with the billing system. and phoning customers if their bill is over 200% usage as the previous one, as they may have a leak.

All that jazz.

Good fun though, great people there Thumbs Up
