For people who may have seen other posts of mine recently I have just got my CBF125. Had it delivered on thursday morning, Had a pootle around on thursday when to work and back today and overall reasonably impressed.
someone had a question about the PGM-Fi on them and wanted to know if it was "closed" or "open" loop. Well it does have a Lambda probe which implies its open loop.
Anyway, I had a poke around it today, Two mods....so to speak already.
One, Fitted the hookup for the battery charger for the cold nights, goes on quite well but the way the battery is mounted is more than a little over engineered. The CBR600 just had a big rubber band to hold it down, on this theres a 2mm thick metal plate bolted down over it with some platic crap attached to cover the starter relay.
2nd mod, And I dont know if others have found this but the gear shift it annoyingly high, So im finding during quick downshifting i have to lift my foot of the peg to tap it down a few. So I unhooked the electro and moved it one tooth around so now its perfect!
As I'm hoping to do my own servicing on it when needed I took a peek under the right side panel and had the shock of my life.
I was poking around and moved a rubber pipe slightly to check where it was going (curious) and I heard a trickling sound and then a sudden wash of clear fluid all under the bike on the garage floor, I jumped up dreading I had somehow pulled the fuel line loose as I noticed I had simply caught the filler cap of the water ballast for a patio umbrella with my foot!
Thank god no one was watching I proper FREAKED!
panic over when I looked back in there I found a loose hose clip sat on the gearbox stuck between some wires, It looked a little odd to be there so pulled it abit wondering what it was supposed to be holding, it was loose and exactly matches the clip that holds the pipe from the airbox to the throttle body onto the TB. Do you think this is simply a dropped part in the factory? or is there something else it should be on, Nothing appears to be missing a clip of this kind, this pipe is the only thing big enough for the clip to really go onto. ____________________ Anyone stupid enough to think we will drag a load of wooden horses full of soldiers into our city is certanley stupid enough to drag all of ours into theirs! |

Hey,
Just saw this - wanted to add that many people have experienced fuel pump issues with the CBF, specifically late 2010/2011 models. Basically, Honda are aware of it and the problem is that on a hot day the bike will jolt all over the place, kangaroo hopping kind of, as the engine gains/looses power. Only happens when you let the clutch out and put it under load, and only after a while of riding.
Anyway, if it happens to you, the dealer should replace the fuel pump under warranty as there are a faulty batch of them out there in the wild (happened to me only once on Monday, bike is booked in next weekend to have it sorted). I have read a couple of accounts where it took 2 or 3 replacement fuel pumps to get it sorted.
I blogged about it in more detail, with a video of it actually happening, here: https://cbf125rider.wordpress.com/2011/06/27/the-dreaded-kangaroo-hopping-problem/
The dealer has been fantastic by the way throughout my time with the bike. I couldn't be happier with the customer service they have given. Welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, good contact/comms when they are working on the bike. Hats off to you, Belle Vue Motors!

As for the clip, no idea. I haven't taken the right side panels off yet, did the left ones. I do feel the build quality is better than the YBR - electrics seem to have a lot less exposure and better protection, like covers and such. Glad they don't use the BA20d fitting on the headlamp - I had a lot of contact issues on the YBR unless the bulb/contacts were very clean and I had to re-spring them a lot. Overall feels like a better bike despite the fuel pump issue (I want my carb back!).
I also found the gearshift to be too high, will probably sort it today, I've been so busy I haven't been bothered. Occasionally I have hit neutral instead of second as I can't get as good leverage on it. |
