Bike Mechanics Courses

Evening,

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a bike mechanics course. I want to do an evening course where I can learn as much as possible about bike mechanics, not just the basic bike maintenance. I have been following the truly awesome haynes manual, with its handy 1-5 star spanner guide and have got quite confused by it's lack of information when it comes to getting stuck e.g. when a part slides/turns out nicely but the bloody thing doesn't fit back in.

I haven't achieved higher than a 3 spanner rating and would like the knowledge to hit the 4 and 5's. Really don't like putting my bike in the shop when I feel I "could" have the ability to do it myself.

I would also like to do my own show and tell type projects which make me quite envious. I'm sure you know what I mean.

Anyhow I will be living in London so if there are any courses people know about then please let me know.

ICS were somewhere between a joke and ripoff merchants when I tried doing a course with them ~15 years ago, it was about as unpleasant as is imaginable frankly. Mind you if they are still going they must have improved somewhat but eh, use them at your peril imo.

Check your local community centres too, a couple round here run maintenance courses.

Damm damm and double damm I`ve never wanted to live anywhere near Merton,,,,,, until now .

I`ve been looking for a course in East Anglia for a couple of years now and there`s nothing around.
I would sell my missus for the right evening class, or even more extreme, I`d be prepared to put my hand in my own pocket and pay with my own cash for the right course

I did a course at Lambeth College, avoid that place like the plague! My tutor got all his teaching stuff from Merton though, and the material was good.
