Need some expert advise on this Chaps Very Happy

I am getting a divorce. My wife has some debt on various credit cards, as do I. Is it feasible to get all the wifes CC debt put over to my CCs( transfers or whatever means) I then divorce her and leave her in the clear. Will she be pursued for my CC debt, even though we are divorced?

There are no other debts other than CC ones. Surely they can't go after her regarding my debt when we are divorced??

TIA and mucho Karma for advise.

Why on earth would you want to take on somebody's debts? Especially if they are divorcing you.

Do you have a tattoo on your forehead saying sucker or something?

This.

Unless it's part of some larger deal.

Don't see why you don't both just pay of your own debts individually.

Assume it's part of some Larger Deal FFS, there's no muggishness going on. What does the 'law' say, is the person without debt in their name free and clear?

It's one for de expoits, innit. And there are plenty here. Thumbs Up

What's in her name will stay in her name. If you go for a clean break there's no comeback once the agreement has been signed and you have the decree absolute.

If you want (why ffs) to clear her debts then clear them as part of the final settlement, not before or you may find she is advised to screw you over on the division of assets and clearing her card debt will become less attractive.

If you have sufficent space on your CC's, then all you would need to do is make a payment onto her CC, using your CC. That will clear hers, and effectively transfer to you.

At that point, her debts would be cleared, there would be no comeback to her.

I'd probably make a couple of minimum payments on your, larger debt after you have done this to demonstrate intention to repay.

BUT, make sure you don't piss off to a foreign country and not leave a forwarding address, that would be naughty. Razz

Oh, if you were to do the above, to make sure there is no comeback on her, ensure that the divorce has gone through, all joint arrangements (including living arrangements) have been ended, as such links do affect credit records of both if one or the other has a repayment 'problem' when still linked by any agreements (tenancy, phone bills, joint accounts, electric etc etc).

My my, so I did. Not much to go on though is it. Whereas you have many, many posts to demonstrate your lack of intellect. I don't consider the odd typo as a measure of intelligence. Whole sentences of stupidity I do, and you got them in spades pal. Wink

Jog on now, you must have some youngun to impress/molest?

The point admirably proven in your case by your inability to recognize an obvious metaphor.

Just tooo easy. Laughing
