My NCB seems to do nothing.
I did a false quote stating I was 3 years older, gave myself 5 years no claims... Quotes changed by about £60-£80..

was in a similar predicament last year - only tpf&t on my zx6r as wasnt worth going fully comp - changed to my k7 - had about 2 month on the policy so just changed over the policy to the k7 tpf&t and took it easy (well 'easier' ) then changed over to fully comp once id collected my extra yrs no claims.
Id say just do that and to be honest it might stop you from riding like a c@ck initially until you get to know the bike - its only a month or so. I managed it for 2month - it makes sense in the long run, dont throw away a yrs no claims, i did that with a car once and it used to piss me off that i always had a years no claims less than i should have! |

I know I probably won't bin it but look what happened on the 636 which has cost £150 to repair the nose cone so far! I don't want to have an accident and wreck it and have to pay out. I know it warrants a crash that has more damage than the excess but at least it's there if I needed it.
Listen to this as well... MCE quoted me £860 FC with 2 years NCB and an SP30 with a 28 day ban declared. Know what happens when I change the quote to not declare the ban? Absolutely nothing, it's still £860?
I did one with 3 years NCB and it was £725. It's not exactly a huge saving is it? |
If you expect to bin it, you'r goig to loose all your NCB anyway......
I'd check e-sure or similar for one month policies; see what price is, to cover you until your KTM cover lapses and you gt that NCB.
If more than £140, TPFT, cheaper to add 10 to the KTM cert... if less, then how much extra is F/C worth on a one month?
Once lapsed, you have the NCB, and no commitment to month at a time policy provider, so shop around again..... ____________________ My Webby'Tef's-tQ, loads of stuff about my bikes, my Land-Rovers, and the stuff I do with them!

Just add it to the existing policy. You are just as likely to crash it no matter what policy you own and if you're so worried about binning the bike why on Earth did you buy a bike that's so expensive if you bin it? What's the point in buying a bike like that if all you do is worry about the money you'll have to spend if you bin it? Get some confidence in your riding! !
You have a couple options, you just have to pick the best one:
1) Don't insure it, have no way to get to work apart from public transport. Bike is UNSAFE if it gets stolen, no insurance.
2) Insure it elsewhere, be able to get around but lose your 1 year NCB. Bike is safe if you bin it but your NCD isn't.
3) Add it to the policy, be able to get around but your bike isn't safe but you definitely get another year of NCD.
If I were you, I'd just add it to the policy and use it, at least then you get the discount from an extra year NCD in September AND it's insured for theft whilst you're waiting to insure it FC. If you're that worried about dropping it then ride it with a lot more caution whilst it's not insured FC.
No point wasting a year of no-claims bonus and the discount associated with it that you will get because you might drop your bike.

What's the difference between the insurance FC in Sept with 2YNC and 3YNC?
If that difference is more than the cost of changing to FC on the new bike until sept, keep it. If it's not, change policy.

could just start a new policy, leave the other one running so you get another years no claims so when you come to renew next year you have an extra 2 years no claims? ____________________ CBT Passed: 30/08/2009, Theory Passed: 31/08/2010, Mod 1 Passed: 6/9/2010, Mod 2 Passed: 13/09/2010.
