I thought I'd do a thread about what is going on with my bikes at the minute why? Well they where all out and I had a camera!

KTM EXC520 (Kate Middleton) I took it out today for the first time since she raped my leg, she still has my Skin on her exhaust. I have a new soft seat ready to go on it just needs a little modification. Other than that the only thing I need to do to it is actually ride it.

Yamaha TDM900 (Trudy) This is my daily driver or it was till It took it apart. I have done about 30k on this bike and it has done a shade over 50k. In the summer it took me 2700 miles around Europe and didn't miss a beat. I decided when I found a guy breaking a TDM and I managed to get some parts I had been waiting for for a while cheap (headlight and forks in excellent condition for £120) that she could do with a bit of a resto. So she is getting a thorough cleaning and polishing as well as loads of bits painted/polished.

On Friday I should be picking up freshly painted panels, wheels and various brackets as well as a fully polished exhaust system. Then I can put it back together.

Triumph Speed Four (Sophie) This is my 'Sunday' bike however due to various 'Issues' with it it has hardly been on the road for the last couple of years I was really to sell it after lots of problems (that I had caused) but finally I got her perfect (well near enough) She is taken over daily driver duties while the TDM is laid up. The renthals are new and really changed the bike for the better. It is much more hooligan now the front wheel is constantly trying to head skywards and the handling is so light and it is more comfortable.
I still maintain this is one of the best handling bikes out there it is so agile and flickable yet really stable and confidence inspiring.

Yamaha RXS100 (Roxy)

This is my first ever bike, I paid £250 for her about 6 years about, I put 10k miles on it and it wanted for nothing not even a spark plug. After I past my test she was left in the garage for a few years then relegated to the garden. There she sat unloved, but not forgotton. When a friend decided he wanted to get a bike I said he was welcome to take Roxy. So together we got her running again all it needed was fresh fuel and a new plug and it started after a couple of kicks! We have given her a full service and now I am just waiting for him to pass his CBT. Then I can see if it will go through an MoT.

This bike is one of the reasons Suzuki's piss me off. Look at it, it is a 23 year old 100cc budget commuter with 40k miles on the clock, I have owned it for 6 years in that time it has spent most of it's time outside. Including a year outside in Portsmouth being used in all weather. This is hardly any rust on it. Not bad for a old bike that hasn't really being looked after. My GS500 was 11 years newer and had less miles on it yet I was about to change the colour from red to orange with the DVLA because of how much rust was on it. Before it blew up that is. Laughing

Haha no chance, I had the rearshock rebuilt and the brakes serviced it transformed it, it's much easier to ride on the road and the front brake is so strong it will stoppie on 2 fingers. I can't wait to get the softseat on it Once the TDM is back together I'll mod the seat to fit then do some mileage on it I think I have only gotten it muddy 3 times, the first was great, the second I ended up stuck up to the axles and the 3rd time it raped my leg. Buy one and put the Fazer front end on it, I have always been tempted to do it myself. The 17" fazer front wheel apparently Sharpens up the handling on them and fits straight in. I wonder want it would be like with shorter stiffer forks.

Personally I think if you find the majority of bikes a little bit to small the TDM is THE best bike you can buy.

It isn't mega pretty and doesn't have loads of power, I reckon it is a shade quicker than most naked 600's.

People of people say the power delivery is boring, I would say it is flat but not boring, so easy to wheelie as it is so smooth. Plenty of torque for slow cruising in the higher gears, one thing though mine has a PC3 which made such a difference at low revs but bike pulls smothly from idle to the rev line. and the best brakes of any bike I have ridden (Including a Ducati 848) I think it handles fairly well but it needs muscling round corners, no problem if you are big. All that and comfy to boot AND good on fuel. While the Speed Four is more fun the TDM is a better bike.

Right picked up loads of bits yesterday just waiting for 1 nut so I can get on with the rebuild. Evil or Very Mad

Away to get a vague Idea what the TDM was like before he is it about 1500 miles ago.

Filthy and those exhaust pippes where corrodes pretty badly and the cans and footrests where all corroded the way ally does.

I sent them to the polished and they came back like this!

Freshly powder coated wheels.

Also had the Silver redone as the last time it was sprayed it came out the wrong colour plus I wanted the belly pan to match.
