...following on from my other thread...

I'm going to buy some better tyres for my ZX6R for my next trackday, probably in 120/70/17 180/55/17 as they apparently fit fine and suit the bike and are obviously more readily available.

Most common options on Ebay are Pirelli Dragon Supercorsas, Metzeler Racetecs and Michelin Pilot Powers. I've had Power Ones before and absolutely loved them but they're the only proper trackday tyres I've ever had so maybe they're all going to be pretty similar.

Any to avoid or should I just go for whatever comes up at the right price? I'm new to track riding but I'm not totally hopeless and do push the bike pretty hard so I want something good.

For my money it would be Racetecs, or the newer Racetec Interacts if you can get them.

IIRC the Dragon Supercorsa is an older version of the Supercorsa, don't like Power One's myself. They tend to let go without no warning. Go into the corner with Power One's one lap and be fine, go into the same corner at the same speed the next lap and they let go. A bit concerning.

Ok, cheers, Racetecs are really common so that's not a bad choice. Never found a problem with the Power Ones but I only did 2 trackdays on them.

Any of you racer chaps happen to be selling any scrubs by the way? Most of the ebay ones are trade sale so the seller has to get their cut, must be cheaper to buy from source...

Get down your local track on a day when there is a big club racing meet.

Normally see pairs going for £40/£50 at Cadwell on the Sunday.

I wouldn't buy the dragons anymore... difficult to judge the wear progress due to the thread pattern plus they don't last as long as the Supercorsas.. don't know if this is down to newer technolgy or what ?

I sell scrubs and unfortunately you just missed a load that I sold but should have more racetec interacts by the end of this month if you are interested.

I would certainly stick to metzelers as the grip is consistent down to the wire. Ive started using pirellis and they are better from new, part worns I wouldnt trust as grip tails right off after some use.
