Okay dumb question time.

I came to start my CG125 this morning and it wouldn't start... The lights come on but when I press the starter I just get a clicking noise and the headlight goes out. I'm guessing that the battery is flat but am not 100% sure.

100% flat battery mate. Try bumping the bike or charging the battery, but if it's just died like that maybe new battery time.

I'll try charging the battery tonight but as it seemed fine yesterday I'm not holding out much hope.

Yep, they do just go over time. For a 125 it shouldn't be too much for a new one.

Starter solenoid? If it's dead-shorting it'll dim the lights out, tick and won't activate the starter.

Try getting someone to knock it firmly a few times with a screwdriver handle while you engage the starter.

Try knocking the starter. If that's worn it will dead short the solenoid. Sorry, I wasn't very clear.

In fact, I'm still not sure I am!

Give it a go, anyway.

Now I'm not very mechanically minded and its beginning to get complicated for me.

Edit :- Worked out where the starter motor is and hit it with a hammer a couple of times and the bike started so it looks like the starter motor had got stuck somehow.

I've decided to keep the new battery on the bike now as i was thinking of replacing it in a couple of months anyway as I had no idea how old the the previous battery was.
