PostPosted: 17:10 - 29 Nov 2010    Post subject: tuning a sinnis apache 125 Reply with quote

hi im hoping someone can help me out with this one. i own a sinnis apache 125 4t and ive seen lots of posts on forums about tuning these bikes with cdi units cone filters and exhausts but i cant find anyone who sells any of these parts.

cone filters are ten a penny and easy to find but cdi's are almost impossible to find and im wondering if any old 4 stroke race exshaust from a moto x bike would do.

any info would be good im already in the process of changing front and rear sprockets but i want to find more bits if possible.

please no comments from chinese bike haters they arnt helpfull

Find out if the cat is in the downpipe of your stock exhaust. If so, call and ask if this downpipe is catted or cat free.

If you can get a cat free version, that should help (there's no emissions component in the motorcycle MOT and I know of no plans to add one - God help us all if they ever do). Then it'll be a generic cone filter and rejet to balance, which will depend entirely on what carb the Sinnis has.

This site used to do 'performance' CDIs but they're out of stock on all but the 5 pin generic. Might be worth a call to see if they're intending to restock.

I tried a 'POSH' brand CDI for a laugh. It did advance the ignition timing, but only when the revs were already up, and at the cost of running rough at high revs. I soon switched back to stock. The increased acceleration was marginal - a CDI won't make your engine run better, just differently.

Don't bother it's a 4 stroke 125, the extra power you'll gain will be virtually non exsistant. If you want to tune it then stroke a smoker.

If you must then you can get universal cone filters on ebay that would be an easy fit. You could then debaffle your original pipe instead of bodging one to fit. Your 'race CDI' will maybe give you a stronger spark. It will also advance the ignition and take the rev limiter off increasing the likelyhood of the engine giving up if you like a bit of throttle.

Whatever you do just remember to jet the carb properly to avoid a short engine life Thumbs Up

this will sound really stupid but how do you de-baffle an exhaust.

ive found a kamikaze cdi im getting a power filter and re-jet when the weather improves 15 inches of snow.

to be honest the only reason i want to do anything to it is because im sick of max speed being 50mph at a max of 6000 rpm in top gear.

i just want the bike to rev alot more freely so i can atleast do the same speed as the rest of the traffic on country roads around lincolnshire.

and as for the strokers ive been there and was sick of break downs blow ups and poor fuel econemy less than 12 mpg on my cagiva mito

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Unless fitted Suzi part # 32900-05370 / 138100-7530 Denso (w/o rev limit & more aggersive "curve" ie. no noise/ emission BS as these days) or some aftermarket CDI. mychinamoto.com had many good examples about this Suzi clone made that by Qingqi.

best thing to do to this bike is eather fit a 150cc kit from sam-vtec off ebay or drop a suzuki gn gz en etc engine in which does 10mph more than the chinky engine can put out. the kamikaze cdi does a very very tiny amount which isnt noticable and isnt worth getting. putting a free flowing can on does make a slight differece but you are very limited with a single 4t. change your sprocket set up, loose weigh off the bike and make sure your cam chain is tight as they have a tendency of coming loose on those chinese engines

You talk slowly and clearly, and provide a very simple explanation...

I Believe good sir that that is a bicycle pedal. Such things are used on contraptions such as this in order to propel them forwards:

What the poster is suggesting is that in order to make your oriental motor bicycle faster you ought to install some pedals.

Clear enough?
