0 is because you can just write it and wont be able to participate in writing when you crashed so whats the point in voting ? Mr. Green

But it will happen sooner or later even a small crash!

It has been 18 months since I last crashed and I can't help but think I'm due another.

It's like the calm before the storm. I hope it's not a big one.

I'd want to see the ratio between those who have crashed, and those who haven't ^^

10+

Lost count of spills off road, broken ribs and hurt back several times.

An inexperienced excursion into a hedge on a 400 bandit, target fixation.
A low speed highside on cold tyres totalled an R1 and gave me lengthy recovery time for a bennets fracture on my left thumb. At least I didn't have far to get home...
An 80mph lowside at a wet Silverstone, torn ligaments in my ankle (far wose than a simple break) and a broken pinky tip. Pretty sure I did something to my knee too, as sometimes it folds under me if I turn funny.

Got some great pics somewhere.

Several other little ones.

EDIT Riding 12 years

Why is there this percieved notion that YOU WILL CRASH....... Embarassed

I'm sure there are many bikers who have gone years and the only off they have had is at 0 mph when they missed their footing......

You have to also not that more people will vote that will post in this tread.... At this point 7 posters against 12 votes.... And I have not voted......

And its pointless without knowing st how many years people have been riding as well......

So get that ZERO option in place Rolling Eyes

Interesting thread.. Put the kettle on and have a brew.

My fastest off was about 115mph I had no injuries apart from small bruises. Loads of funny ones but the worst two I suppose were these.

Riding down to the A2 at Barham crossroads from Wingham I stopped at some road works on the slip road and waited to pull out onto the A2 and head off to Dover. A woman came down the slip road behind me driving a Ford Sierra about a minute later, he obviously didn't see me and rammed me, she later claimed she was doing 40 mph, anyhow she hit the back of my bike (GPZ1100) and shoved me out across the traffic coming down the A2 heading for Dover.
A Volvo was coming past and I was shunted into it hitting the front pillar by the passenger door. The front wheel of the bike snapped and the fork embedded itself into the pillar, I flew off over the handle bars, crashed through the passenger window and head butted the lady in the passenger seat breaking her jaw! She lost two teeth as well as damaging her neck muscles and perforating her eardrum.
The driver of the Volvo said he was doing about 80 mph..
The good side to this was the next vehicle along was a 40 tonner so I reckon I got off lightly!
Second off.
Sort of part of the first accident.
My bike was a right off from the accident above it took 9 months to sort out as the lady that hit me was from Australia.
I got my money in the end so got another bike from a bike shop in Faversham, on the day I picked it up I thought I would go for a ride round as you do with a new bike.
I set off from Faversham heading to Sittingbourne up the old A2, got to Teynham and got into a line of traffic all doing 50 mph..
We all passed the junction and I had 4 cars in front of me ~ no probs, but as I came to the junction which was my right of way this driver pulled out in front of me and I hit the side front wheel of his car and it threw me across the bonnet landing in a heap with a fractured wrist.
So I’d done less than 10 miles on the new bike which also was a right off. Happy days.. and would you believe it he was insured by the Co-op the same as the Auzzie who hit me before.

Absolutely not reason it has to if you're careful.
I reckon I'm around the 60 mark on the road (a lot more if you include racing and massively more if you include off-road pursuits.) But, all of them could have been avoided if I was taking more care, etc.

If you put the effort in to not crashing, then you shouldn't. Most people can't be bothered to put the effort in (myself included, it would seem Smile ).

Once on ice on the estate where I used to live - left hand turn, sheet ice, paddling speed.

Second time turned right onto the A160 and slid on some oily sludge. About 5mph, complete lack of observation on my part.

The "winglets" on the Pan prevented any damage both times. Not even a scuffed lever.

Dont think it.

I was chatting to someone on the monday before my crash and mentioned I hadn't dropped a bike in 7 years, 3 days later I smashed the Blade to pieces.

I totalled my first 125 about 5 hours after getting it, ploughed into a roundabout that had a suprising little turn just before the entry.

My 2nd 125 was crashed into from behind on my way home from passing my test, whilst I was stationary waiting for oncoming traffic to clear on a roundabout.

The same 125 I was then riding a couple days later to get an estimate for repair to above crash, on a dual carriageway in town, 30 limit, in right lane to turn right and an artic with trailer decided to change lanes into me, clipped my handlebars and knocked me into the oncoming lane of traffic. A proper oh-shit moment!

Last time came off a Z1R at about 80 or 90 when hitting a pothole on the top of a bridge, tankslapper and eject. That one hurt, but not as much as it should have.

Lowsided my 125 twice in it's first week, then went a year without incident, only to be knocked off by a minicab driver turning from the wrong lane. Rolling Eyes

So yeah, 3.

10 on bike
1 in car

Worst one, 27th Feb 2008. Hit a Ford Galaxy right in the drivers door after he pulled out about 5 feet away from me Laughing

Damage wise I was in a coma for a few days, broken part of my neck, damaged my spine, broke ALL of my ribs (ok I say broke, 7 were broke the rest were fractured), shattered both of my ankles, broke my legs, lost most pain reception in my right arm and leg and got away with some slight brain damage causing random twitching on my right hand side.

Not too bad Thumbs Up I'm still alive Laughing

Scars...not so bad but the brain damage and spine damage and other long term/perminant injuries scare me to fuck.

Minimal scars, most are mental scars tbh mate.

Injuries do still hurt... 3 1/2 years on. You live with it though.

My luck will run out soon though, until then, i'll keep enjoying riding. I got back on a bike the second I got out of the wheelchair 8 months later, XR125, borrowed that from brother and took for a spin with 2 leg supports and a chest brace on.

Not fussed about having another crash, but I aim to avoid most of those situations, but shit happens.

twice, once trying to pull into a layby at speed... didnt turn in time and ended up hitting a curb and catapulting myself into a field. The bike ended up laid down nicely on its side on the grass verge... i wasnt so lucky!

the second was doing a U turn with a pillion... the pillion decided we werent going to make the turn and cranked himself right over to the right so i dropped it with the weight as i couldnt hold it
