Kawasaki Er500 wont start

Hi, my Kawasaki ER500 has been starting fine until today. When I press the starter button, I can hear a clicking sound (Ithink from the solenoid) but it will not start,there is nothing. any ideas?

Try getting someone to smack the starter with a heavy screwdriver handle, or a small hammer, while you engage the starter.

have you checked the oil in window ?
sometimes the petrol tap fails & petrol goes straight into sump & this makes it lock up .

Ive just checked the oil window, when on the side stand it appears empty,when on the centre stand it appears full as in totally full?

take of cap see if smells of petrol !!
Sounds like to me petrol tap failed .
To check petrol tap take of pipe to carbs should not leak from tap but if petrol gets through tap failed.

So if I take the pipe off the petrol tap leading to the carbs,and there is fuel in it, the tap has failed?

no take the pipe of to the carbs & see if theres any petrol coming through the tap . It should only have petrol going through if running .
Oh just check to make sure u have not moved tap to prime setting aswell !!!

Classic flat battery. Charge it up, then see if it works. The battery could be totally goosed, in which case try jump starting it off a known good battery (like on your car). No need to run the car engine while you're doing it.

No idea where the ideas about petrol in the oil are coming from. Clicking solenoid = low battery or knackered solenoid.

As for riding it daily, modern batteries do tend to just fail with little or no warning.
