Bit of a boring one this, my tax disc has either snapped off/been stolen as the point at which it broke looks fairly clean and slightly twisted metal.

The directgov site suggests I may have to fork out £7 for a replacement but does anyone know if there's a chance I can get it replaced for free?

Looking for a new holder now, have seen the carbon effect ones but look a little flimsy and would be worried they'd be easily snapped again.

The Oxford stainless units look decent, any recommendations?

My brake line look fairly worn where it has been rubbing at the back of the holder, presently I have a 3-way splitter between both front calipers but was advised I'd be better off getting a single line with a y-split in it, good advice? Cheaper to replace single line?

No chance of getting it replaced for free..... How long has it got to run.
While it is commiting a offence to not display 9cash only no points), many do not have the disk mounted on their bikes due to being nicked.

I would look at another place to mount it away from anything rubbing.

Mines mounted up at the rear subframe well out of the way from anyone getting their hands on it.

I had to replace one myself I looked down one day and noticed the thing had been sawn off.

Three things to try:

Ignore it till it runs out, if you get stopped look in shock and horror at it being missing.

Get a replacement stick it in your wallet and get a colour copy in a tax disc holder, Make the holder dirty, most cops won't be able to tell the difference.

Or just put another one back on, and hammer a ball bearing into the hex bolt it will screw in with.
