Pillion comfort on new R1

Anyone ridden pillion on a new R1?

I'm really considering jumping on one but i do a fair amount of touring two up.

I know it doesn't sound sensible, but it's what I fancy.

Any ideas?

I have been on the back of an 04 R1 a few times.Not good it is like sitting on a top box attached to an ordinary machine.
Any acceleration means you slide back and any braking means you slide forward. It isn't a bike i would go on through choice, in an emergency only.

Seat is at somewhat of an angle so any gear change at speed throws you into the rider quite a bit more than it would on a bike with a flat seat

As above the r1 really isnt pillion friendly. Unless they are female and have large tits then its always fun to remove your back armor and change gear and brake as often as possible. soft squishy goodness for the duration of the ride.

No true sportbike is really pillion friendly, it's basically a form and function issue. Sportbikes essentially take the form of a road going race bike made to carry one person. If you really want to experience pillion discomfort try a 50 mile trip on the back of a 748.

Absolutely not, mate of mine took his missus out on his new one quite recently, we had to pull over just so she could stretch her legs and be off the bike. This is a pillion happy girl, who described being a passenger on his K4 750 as being fairly comfortable.

Incidentally, they broke up not too long after he bought it!

This said, absolutely incredible bike, if I were looking for a litre sports, I wouldn't be looking anywhere else.

I've taken two pillions on mine.

Both have said "never again".

It's really not ideal, the bike's not really intended as a two seater and it does change the dynamic of how it rides, handles, feels..

Very short ago I had my first ride on a motorcycle on the back of an r1 of a friend. At a certain moment he rode 160 mph and also did very fast accelerations and really sharp turns. I really loved it and now I am looking for other fast pillion rides on sportbikes.
