Lightweight budget 400-650cc naked bikes?

As the title says, what are the lightest budget middleweight naked/commuters?

Something you could possible pick up for around the £1k mark.

From memory the SV650, which would be my answer to this question, comes in at a shade under 170kg (dry). Anything lighter or around the same weight that offers a similar package?

CB400SF, cheap to insure, light, chuckable.

A Bros would be under your budget. Light, frugal and quite good fun. strangely, quite tunable to an extent too. My mate has an overbored 400 which is making nice power for it's size.

A SV would be ideal if you can find a good curvy within budget, but don't overlook the 500 twins, plenty of GS500, CB500 and ER5's about.

why do you need a light bike?

i think my cbr6 is only 164kg dry...

I think there must be some 250-400cc's, aircooled perhaps, in the 130kg range...

quite shocking when a cg125 is 100kg :O

Oh I don't really need a light bike (no tank though) just throwing it out there to gauge opinion. I am predominately looking at SV650's so far but always good to know the competition.

The CB400 Super Four / CB1 might be worth a test ride. Smile

The bandits are not ugly but have soul and although on the heavy side are great fun as the centre or gravity is low which lets you chuck them around. Laughing

50 hp, 170 kilos, great fun to ride and hilariously cheap to buy if you know what to look for. The fuel economy is good, the tank range is massive and whilst they do have some amusing gremlins they are utterly reliable. The build quality is pretty incredible as well (My bike in that photo is approaching 20 years old).

A super four is a better bike and certainly has a better motor, but they don't quite have the same charm and tart potential as the little Yam imo.

If you can pick up a decent gsf400 I loved mine! a shade quicker, IIRC, than the SF (well blackwolfs one anwho) Not hugely light but was always good fun

CB-1 and Bros are both really fun to ride and also practical with excellent reliability and SUPERB build quality (FAR better than an SV or any 500 twin). I've had both and absolutely loved them both.

I'm selling my CB-1 shortly for around £700 if you're interested, it's totally sound mechanically and ready to go. Fairly clean cosmetically but not mint.
