I've inadvertently won two items on auction when I only want one. The item is £15 with a postage fee of £5.

Rather than me buying something I no longer need, I'm wanting to compensate the seller for his fees, inconvenience, and give him a bit of profit and the opportunity to sell the same item again.

I'll still buy it if necesary but it seems a waste.

What do you lot think would be an acceptable figure to offer him?

It would probably be less hassle to just pay for both of the items that you *won and then sell the one that you don't want.

*I do hate the term that ebay uses to describe the purchase of items from their site.

It turns out that the seller is a saint and is happy to just cancel the transacton, they get some of their money back but not all. They suggested donating any fee I was gonna send to charity.

I agree I should pay more attention to what I'm bidding on and not bid on two items when I only want one. Absent minded and forgot I'd already bid on one.
