so it took a few hours but with the help of the haynes manual we have connected most of the wires where we can for now and left with 3 wires we believe connect to the ht coil and icu unit? are they all the same i know the newer models are fitted with seperate units and we need the integrated unit but are ther different types with different connections to look out for or is there just one intergrated unit as standard??

i hope i am making sense???

Hi

The coil has 4 wires and the stator has (from memory) 6.

3 of the wires on the coil connect to 3 other wires on the stator and are colour coded. The 4th wire is the red and white one and connects to the bikes loom, and operates the ignition kill for the kill switch and ignition switch.

The other wires are all the same colour and go to the regulator / rectifier unit. They will either be blue or yellow depending on the age (think blue is the older ignition, yellow is the newer).

The coils and stators can sometimes be mixed. The early stator can be used with the early or late coil, but the late stator can only be used with the late coil. You need to id the coil by the part number marked on it.

All the best

Keith
