Well I've just sold my NSR and the pouring rain emulated the sickening feeling in my heart, as I pushed her out to the waiting van. I've spent long months working on the bike, cursing when things broke and feeling the joy of unrestricted 2 stroke power around Somerset.

I sold her to a guy who's giving it to his son on his birthday, I hope he gets the same joy I did from it.

How do BCF'ers get over the sale of a bike......is the answer to buy another one. Twisted Evil

Enjoy your new life!

I never sold my bike. I gave it away as it wasnt worth selling. It was a Chinese heap of junk and I thought I would be sad to see the thing go. After all I had had it for a couple of years and it did bring me over from Belfast all the way to Portsmouth.

But as I twisted the throttle of the new ride I knew I wouldnt miss the old one. Theres just something special about getting off a 125cc bike and onto a 750 sports bike that you just cant regret the loss of the smaller bike.

Absolutely delighted, as it usually means money and another bike.

I hated parting with any of my bikes, over the years. The fact that I was getting cash in exchange for the bike was scant consolation. Crying or Very sad Cars on the other hand, I couldn't care less!

About four years ago I decided I wasn't going to sell another bike, hence four bikes at the moment.

In ten years time i'll be able to open my very own motorcycle museum, or scrappy, depending on your point of view! Laughing

I am in the process of selling my CG.

I am kinda glad for the space, but I am also in the knowledge of the Honda CG being the most common 125 ever!?

I can get another when I am older Cool

I felt a bit empty when I sold my xt and im saving up for another supermoto to replace it. The Chinese thing I had and the TT600 I was less upset about as they both let me down badly. I don't like getting rid of stuff really!

I considered buying that NSR from you when you had it up a while back. Great condition, and looks almost identical to mine (minus the damage and colour.) It's even got the same pegs on! I've become very attached to mine, and was planning to sell it a while after passing my tests, but I don't think I'm going to do that now. It can't hurt to have two bikes.

Maybe Honda, Yamaha etc need to have a look at that bike and take some lessons from it on how to build a quality 125.......not bad for 17 years old.

As I watched the woman kangarooing up the road on my sv, I just thought "please don't drop her in front of me..." And that was that. I can't say I'm that sentimental, not about possessions...tbh. Neutral

I've only sold one "bike" (scooter) but I did feel a little sentimental at the loss of it, being my first legally motorised transport. The strongest memory is trying to resist the urge to chase after the kid who was wheeling my bike around the block to the waiting van. Was just... wrong to let him take it.

Was genuinely saddened when I got rid of the GPZ (even though it had been a non runner in my garage for the previous 6 months).

I think the hardest one to see go was my red/black VFR400R.
Thankfully it was bought by two blokes who were Honda enthusiasts, and this was a tidy VFR.
As i counted the money in their car, they loaded her onto their trailer. All i heard then was a crunch. They had pulled on the straps too hard and the bike crashed down onto the side of the trailer, damaging side panels. Fools.

I hate selling bikes. Even ones i dont like that much. Fine example was my XJR1300. I really wanted to like that bike but after 6 months or so riding it i just decided it just wasnt for me. Spent ages trying to sell it, ending up taking a big hit on it too but still, seeing the new owner climbing onto it and riding off just made me want to chase him down the street and give him his money back for my bike.

Garth came and collected my C90 cub

I learnt to ride on it and spent many happy evenings over the 3 years I had it on the road plodding about even if it didn't look that cool.
Then it sat in my garage for another year until i bit the bullet and did it.

I did feel a bit sentimental to be honest, met my girl due to that bike and learnt alot from it but it couldn't stay any longer.

When I sold my Varadero XL :

1) Oh shit I hope this big pile of money isn't fake.

2) Oh God I hope the bike doesn't suddenly fail and I have to give the money back or something.

3) Bugger...I shouldn't have left the money sitting at home in a drawer with a window open.

4) Oh crap I've spent the money.

5) Fuck! The phone is ringing! Is it the guy wanting his money back?

Basically, it was a bit stressful. But then I got my CBR600 and all that disappeared.

Sometimes I wonder how the Varadero is doing. It was my first bike and it was really nice. Hopefully it is being well-treated.

Well, let's see:

Honda CG125: Had passed my test and bought a bigger bike. Didn't miss it one bit. Was just surprised someone wanted to give me £700 for a ten year old hunk of junk that wasn't even registered properly in the country (I never got round to re-registering when I got it in from Northern Ireland).

Kawasaki GPZ 500: Was happy someone was willing to take it away and give me enough money for a night out. Spent more time in the local scrappy looking for bits than riding her. It decided to pop fork seals, chew up her sprockets and snap her exhausts all within a week of the upcoming MOT.

Kawasaki ER6F: Slight tinge of regret, but traded it in for the VFR which I had always wanted so happy overall.

VFR 800 VTEC: Gutted! Had to sell it to help finance wedding.

Had to downsize to an SV650. Regret it now. Far too much of a step down. Will be glad to see the back of this one soon. Got my eye on a zx9r next.

The only car I have ever regretted selling was my mk1 MX5 jap import. Was at the point where I either cashed in for good money or had to spend a wedge on it in 6 months. Chose to cash in, but that is the only car I have ever got attached to, the rest are just tools.
