They roll over far too easy for my liking, jamming all the doors shut leaving no option but to kick the back window through and crawl out the back, if you don't go flying into roundabouts they're a decent truck, take notice of the weight when you buy one as the newer ones are over the class 4 weight limit and have to go to commercial garage for mot

The Navarra tends to be cheaper because people are wary due to the problem with the engines blowing - but less than 5 years old it won't do it and Nissan have been very good at sorting the older ones years after warranty ran out.

There isn't much to choose between the main ones, Ford Ranger, Navarra, L200 and Isuzu Rodeo.
They aren't cars and you won't get much over 35mpg but are comfortable enough.
They will annoy you trying to fit in standard parking bays.
Not only being about 50% bigger than most cars but the turning circle and overhanging at the back takes some getting used to.

A mate of ours had a Mitsubishi Trojan thingy that he used for work. He loved it.

However earlier this week it randomly caught fire (after being parked for 6 hours) fire started in the engine bay, no suspicious circumstances just decided to burst into flames.

Unfortunately it was parked next to the wall of my house, and I nearly lost the house (as it was it just took out my electric, gas, phone, sky, wrecked my carpets and made the whole place stink of burning plastic/rubber/car and covered everything in black dust)

So I've kind of gone off the lately.

My old boss had one when they were new out, loved it.

I'd think the only problem would be mpg but if you can afford the truck you'll be able to pay for fuel.

I'd be checkin common faults and how easy it is to get spares.

delivered several for my old company, savage on diesel, very unstable on the motorway or anywhere over 60mph, hi loading area for getting a bike on, wear front tyres very quickly
still run like a clock even if left unserviced, tend to be driven by builderbloke wannabees or women who want to prove they're just as good as any man!

We've been through a couple of hiluxes at work - very tail happy. The first one, the storeman put it into a ditch on a roundabout and, being the wrong side of 60, he wasn't exactly the boy racer type.

Playing about in them, it is soooo easy to get the back to step out, where a Land Rover goes into a nice 4 wheel drift.

Years back Ride did a feature on a Jumbuck which is more of a car derived pick up (made by Proton and you can pick one up for a few grand judging by autotrader). It's only a a single cab, but if it is to replace a van that shouldn't be a problem.

If your heart is set on making more of a statement, I'd consider a Landy - they're unbeatable for towing, and can be pimped up quite nicely if that floats your boat.

Landrovers are so cramped in the cab though.
We had them for years and you practically have to sit on the door handle with your arm out of the window.
Plus travelling any distance makes me feel in need of hip replacements when I get out Rolling Eyes

What age are you looking at? I think the old shape ones with the 2.8 diesel had issues with the head, whereby it cracked and needed to be replaced. Shows same symptoms as a head gasket gone.

So keep an eye out for very new oil changes and signs of wiping out mayo in the oil filler cap.

Next door has one, an 05 plate and it's a nice truck. I prefer the newer ones inside (06 on) but they're a bit gay looking. We have hilux's at work and while they go for ever, they are quite uncomfortable on and off road.

Despite being a landrover owner myself (Discovery 3) I wouldn't suggest a 110 to anyone, because you get so much more for your money with a japanese pickup. Plus they rot like fuck and piss oil everywhere. Only upside is parts are cheap and they'll hold their money like nothing else! Thumbs Up

Make sure to get one that says "Warrior" in massive letters on the side and drive it like it's a (very slow) sports car and not actually a truck at all...

*chuckle*

Very Happy

I loved mine, buy one Thumbs Up

https://i241.photobucket.com/albums/ff19/sparkscw/Random%20Pics/trucksnow.jpg

Not the cheapest to buy, run or insure and not the fastest truck in the world but it was sooo awesome it made up for it.

A for parking, I found it the easiest vehicle to park that I've owned, mine had reverse sensors which helped and I am used to vans etc but it was a doodle.

Loading a bike is a pain in the arse and it can be a pain not having a "back of van" but again the awesomeness makes up for it Very Happy

Oh, and I had so much fun when it snowed Laughing

I'm liking my crew cab Vito.
Decent fuel economy. Car speed limits. Probably more 'car like' than a L200. Don't need to worry about ultra-securing tying down. Can sleep in the back. Ample space for five, squeeze six in there, or take the crew seats out for loads of space in the back.

Negatives - you don't look like a wannabe Wink.
