In fairness, it's not like he was a first on the team sheet, key member of the side by the time he left Madrid, was it. He was only being used as an occasional sub.

And besides, the ridiculous, overblown expectations of most England fans probably gets a bit much after a while.

Regarding his wife, she's done very well considering she has absolutely no discernable talent.

Oh, the honours? Who cares.

I actually forgot the joke transfer that was Madrid.

The prick fucked up our chances of a win, on a global scale then buggers off out the country and is happy to be recognised for being outstanding in his field?

It's a fuckin insult to other knightee's. Sir Alex Ferguson is fully deserving for example; DB is really not in the same league.

I think you will find it is called a pitch.

Farmers are the ones who are outstanding in their field.

The 'honour' system rewards sycophants, snides, liars and cheats. Just about anyone with a 'Sir' in front of his name is utter scum. If he/she is not it's an accident. And I can't think of one off the top of my head who isn't.

You seriously believe that Laughing All 1 mans fault Laughing

As for role model, he's a douche, but he does a lot for other people. But the press dont write about that stuff as its nice and they can only write about the miserable and depressive and bad things.

Im sure the royal house knows his contributions to the country/world in his area of interest and other activites. They dont just hand them out Laughing

If they can give a Knighthood to someone that no longer lives here then surely they can give a knighthood to someone that has lived here for nearly 60 years?

I give you..Sir Rolf Harris

That appears to be half this forum's answer to everything.

"So and so's a bit of an arse"

"Jealousy"

...

"So and so looks daft"

"Jealousy"

etc, ad infinitum. Laughing

I suppose he's done a lot for sport in the UK, with his soccer schools, the work he did for the failed world cup bid. Then there is the chummy business between him and Prince William and Messers Blair & Cameron. Oh, and the actual playing bit with Man Utd & England.

Personally, I'd prefer Honours like this to go to people with a little more life experience (read older), but I think the public 'on the whole' think a lot of him. Maybe he deserves a Knighthood for being married to her?

I may add as well, that he would not be my first choice for an Knighthood, at least not yet.

I'd rather becks than most that get knighted, he has done a lot for sport, and TBH I think is a pretty good role model. I can't believe people still hold the Argentina thing against him, 1 tiny mistake.

Bearing in mind how much the media must follow him around I have never heard a bad word against him and I think if there was anything it would have been allover the news.

Idea story of normal boy made good, loads of money, pop star wife (another impressive thing no divorce especially under the media spotlight) and 3 (4)? kids.

You're right - it's wrong(the above statement that is) They will not have any say whatsoever in government (due to title). At all.

he's a prick that occasionally had a decent game of football
she's a cunt that has no talent and earned her money from 13 year old girl wannabies

as a Scottish patriotic type of guy
when Prickham got the red card and basically put England out the world cup
I was loving it, Hero to Zero in one go

plus anyone that calls his child harper seven has issues
luckily the kid will get private education otherwise her school life would have been hell

I'm by no means a fan of his but some of the crap spouted in this thread is epic Laughing

Of course; one man team is he? Nothing to do with the other 10 muppets on the field. Since he "lost us" the world cup, it must have been the final. Oh, wait, it was the second round! Good old England fans - searching for a scapegoat. Don't believe everything that's printed in The Sun.

Rolling Eyes

He didn't quit, he was sold, and stated many times (IIRC) that he hadn't wanted to leave.

Ah, the "joke" £25m transfer (£8m more than anything else in British football that summer and, at the time, in the top 10 fees paid worldwide) Laughing Then he "joked" his way through four seasons and 155 appearances for one of the best teams in the world.
