Finally got my ass back on a bike again after selling my hornet last year and picked up a cb400 super four version r this weekend as it was a bargain! Need's tidying up here and there but overall im pretty chuffed with it. Plan's so far are - new can, change plate, tail tidy, renthals.

Here's some pic's after de-stickering, washing and polishing!

Before anyone asks, there's a front headlight fairing already bought and on the way for it Laughing

CBR400RR ones should fit (I think you'll want an NC23 one not NC29, the hole placement is different) as these use a detuned CBR lump Thumbs Up

1983 called and asked if you'd seen their headlight?

Wink It does look better with that top fairing on and the exhaust looks alright, the best features of the bike are how clean it is, and the colour Thumbs Up

id get that surround painted and keep it along with the headlight so you can sell it in original spec, then do something along the lines of this

Ditch the square head light and get a round one.

Maybe a screen as well.

Looks 1000x better than the number board, you got that right.

But save you ££ for a round headlight & ditch that fairing!!

Whats the difference between the superfour and the older cb1? I guess the engine in the superfour doesn't have gear driven cams? I have the older cb1 and there's absolutely nothing i want to do to it, i particularly love the standard exhaust on it - sounds immense?

I found the Superfour a bit more relaxed than the CB1. More pratical too (the boot space puts even a Blade to shame), not to mention easier to work on, with a better tank range.

It does lack the frisky edge of the CB1 though, as it's coming at the 400 scene a little differently. On paper there's hardly anything in it though, both make around the same power and offer similar handling.

I tend to think as the CB1 as a scaled down unfaired little sportsbike, whereas the Superfour feels like a scaled down CB1300.

after a game of spot the difference there are quite a few differences, ones i can see are:

pillion peg/exhaust hangers
airbox
carbs
engine casings
superfour logo on tank
shocks

Here's mine from a couple of years back, ended up selling it to Andy C.

Missed how brilliant they are, so I've been recently tarting up another.
