My keys are becoming a problem. On one loop are - house keys (front and back), me mothers front door key, front shed key and three locker keys for work. On the same bunch on a different loop are garage key, two garage padlock keys, disk lock key, Xena chain key, Oxford chain key (my lads) and another Oxford chain key that's wrapped round the push bikes. These are on a karabiner on the end of a lanyard which has my alarm fob on it, and my bike key's on a detachable bit on the end. The whole lot goes round my neck for convenience, but is getting to the size now where it's occasionally uncomfortable, and as far as I can see I need all of them, there's no option for cutting them down any. What does everyone else do? I'm thinking that I could take the house keys off the karabiner and put them on a separate loop and chuck them in a pocket somewhere, but then it's just a ball ache when I get home, fishing around for keys.

I have all keys except vehicle keys on one key ring. It has a clip on it which clips inside my rucksack so I can't lose them if the rucksack accidentally comes open. I also have a spring loaded key loop thing under the seat of my FZR which I can connect my keyring to if I can't be bothered to wear my rucksack.

My bike keys all have a single 'soft' keyring on them so I don't damage yokes and the like.

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Keys go in my bag in the front pocket, I don't want a key impaling me in the event of an off. If you bin it with your keys wrapped around your neck you risk being stabbed multiple times or choked by your lanyard - screw that.

I have two sets of keys though, one for rarely used things like padlocks, parents house, car key etc and one for my bike and bike related keys. You may need all of them but you probably don't need to carry them ALL the time.

Bike keys only has a few on it, bike, chain, disclock, house and garage.

I have my bike key, disclock, chain and garage door padlock keys all on one loop.

I then have the front door, back door, garage door and pushbike lock all on another loop. This one I've used since before I was biking and has a cool little wankel engine keyring on it that I refuse to stop using, despite it's unreliability and tendancy to drop keys everywhere.

I'm tempted to do some shuffling around because to take the bike out I need both sets at the minute. Thing is... shuffling around would just seem... wrong. I don't like change!

I have a clip thingy from a dog lead. Looks like this one only bigger:

On one end I have my house keys, bike lock keys and a spare bike key (used for filling up without the alarm getting set). On the clippy side I have a ring with my datatool fob and bike key. Thats all. Bike key gets re attached when I get off the bike and only leaves the clip when I start the bike. The main bunch stays in my jacket pocket at all times unless I take my jacket off then it lives in my jeans pocket.

I have a similar setup to you, but I only take out the keys I need and unclip the ones I don't. For example, today I have ridden to work. All I need are the bike key, topbox key, garage key and back door key. Bike key detaches from the rest and goes in the ignition.
Topbox key stays with alarm fob on a lanyard, poked into an inside jacket pocket.
Door keys in external pocket.

If I'm going away and taking a lock, I'll add the lock key(s) to the bundle but the non-bike keys go in my bumbag.
If I'm just popping out I won't take the house/garage keys as there will be someone at home to let me in.

Sounds a faff but I've yet to lose/forget a key or not be able to unlock or start anything.

I've taken some unecessary (IMHO) ones off and made a master bunch using a huge locking climbing karabiner. It's tucked away but quickly accessible to grab if I need it. Job done.

On my main keyring I have a car key, garage key and the three house keys. On the bike ring I have ignition and topbox keys.

House key + garage key + house fob on one. These are necessary for gaining access to the garage and the house, which can then contain other keys.

Bike key or car key carried as appropriate.

Simplify your life! Why carry keys to get into your house front and back when one entry will suffice? Do you visit your mother's house often, without knowing about it before you leave home? Do you often need to access the shed without the possibility of entering the house first? Likewise the various chains and shit - if the chain is left at home, unlocked because you aren't there, you don't need to carry the key. Work keys... only when you're going to work. If you always take the same bag, leave them in there.

Bike key lives in my lid or in the bike. House & padlock key on a quick-clip lanyard round my neck, or in my bag at work.

I hate people who have 20 keys on one keyring and scratch their top yoke to shit, looks aweful and I bet it is noisey when they clang about not to mention if you lose that one set of keys you are truely fucked.
