You may or may not remember my post a month ago stating that I'd passed my theory!? Well, That day I booked my DAS course and it all begins with CBT tomorrow followed by DAS lessons from Monday morning. Really can't wait now, don't know if i'll be able to sleep tonight! Wish me luck guys and girls.....

Oh, and with out any doubt I shall report back tomorrow evening to let you know how I got on!

As predicted, I didn't sleep overly well last night. Woke up at 5am and couldn't get back to sleep......

Will update on my progress when I get home later on, not sure what time that will be as i'm not sure how long I will be there. I assume it will be late afternoon.

Just got home....Have had an excellent time today! Needless to say, I've achieved a DL196 form, am chuffed to bits!

I was the only person doing CBT today with the training school, so had the instructors undivided attention.

He made me try and do a U turn in, what I thought was, a very narrow street.....I struggled! After several attempts I eventually managed to do it once, then twice, then a third time..... finally became confident at doing it. It was after my last go at it that my instructor said that he'd "pace" in out for me. At this point he told me that the street was only 5 paces, and that for my test it's nearer 7 and a half paces wide. This made me smile!

Really looking forward to tomorrow now, where I'll be on a Honda CB500 for my DAS lessons......

Of course, I'll update tomorrow too!

Just got in......
Been on the Honda CBF500 this afternoon. I can not believe the difference in riding this to the 125! Maybe it's just me, but it seemed much more stable then the 125?! Just need to master my clutch control on slow manouvers like the slalom and U turn. More practice at this and some test routes tomorrow.

Amazing the difference from 125 to a 500.
I've been on an ER5 all day,training for mod1 and a good 2 hrs on the road.I felt so much safer on the 500 than on the 125.

Had a great day today. Spent the morning driving round some of the test routes and most of the afternoon practicing for my MOD 1.

It took a few attempts to get the speed high enough for the swerve manouvere, but eventually grasped it. As for the emergency stop, I kept not really using full force of the front brake and was told time and time again to use more of it. I initially thought I was going to "endo" and fly over the handlebars as I was already breaking quite hard - or so I thought! I couldn't believe just how good the brakes were when I finially used enough pressure.

Practice makes perfect hey!

Ahh takes me back... (to like 3 and a half years ago )

When I first sat on a 500 I was like "This thing is as big as a car!" and yet you feel safer, found it easier to control, and a bloody lot more fun.
I recently upgraded to a 1200, and the same effect once again. "It's like driving the feckin' Eurostar!" ... though this one does hurt my balls a bit more when stopping

Practice, Practice and more practice....That's how I've spent my day. Looking forward to my tests tomorrow. Will be doing a little more practice of the test routes in the morning, followed by MOD 1, then if all goes according to plan, will have a quick extra practice round a test route before my MOD 2. Fingers crossed guys & girls!

I've just got home! Needless to say - I'm chuffed to bits. Didn't sleep very well last night and wondered if i'd done the right thing by booking my MOD1 and MOD 2 just 2 hours apart.....

But thankfully, all the training has paid off and I passed both modules this afternoon!!

Don't get me wrong, it hasn't been easy. It's been hard, in fact, darn hard. Now i'm overwhelmed with satisfaction and chuffed that I have my pass certificates!

I know that now is where the learning will really start, but in the mean time, it's time for some bike shopping!!!

Afternoon!

Have spent the best part of the morning test riding bikes.....

Just got back from the showroom having left a deposit on a Honda CBF600n - Naked. I know these bikes aren't the fastest or the most common choice but the bike felt so comfortable to ride and smooth as can be. It just suits me to a T!

Can't wait to pick it up next week - it's got to have a service before I can collect.

Needless to say, I'm very happy!!

As long as the bike suited you then thats all that matters; no point in getting a bike that is common or the fastest if your in pain when riding it.

Yes, I did them both on the same day. I didn't know what I was letting myself in for until my first day of my DAS course. A few days in I realised that it was going to be a bit of a task, but my instructor kept telling me that I was going to be fine. That was really the only confidence I had, from the constant re-assurance. After I took my MOD 1 I found out why he had so much confidence in me. During my training, I managed to eventually nail the slalom and U turns......U turn was around 5 meters between the lines. When I came to do my actual MOD 1, the cones for the slalom were far further apart than they were at the mock test centre we used, the lines for the U turn were around 2 or 3 yards wider and the swerve manoeuvre was not as offset as the practice runs too.

Hopefully I should be collecting my bike this afternoon, so watch this space for pics!
